Overview

Cornwall is popular throughout the year, due to its "mild climate, breathtaking scenery and long stretches of sandy beach" (Condé Nast Traveller), and its Atlantic coast is dotted with some of the UK's most beautiful coves and bays.

The Gannet Inn is in the village of Carbis Bay on the North Cornwall coast. The country-style property opened in 2015 and has "unique interiors with all the style and finesse of a boutique hotel", according to The AA.

The art galleries and winding cobbled streets of St Ives are five minutes' drive away, while the hotel's sister property, Carbis Bay Hotel, is 15 minutes' walk away -- guests at The Gannet Inn can head there to use the hotel's spa facilities, outdoor pool and Blue Flag beach.

The Gannet Inn has a restaurant that serves classic British dishes, burgers and pasta, and a bar with a dartboard and a pool table. There is also a lounge with a fireplace and leather armchairs. Breakfast is served daily from 7:30-10am.

"Stylish, high-standard" bedrooms are individually designed and soundproof, and feature neutral décor and bespoke furniture. Wi-Fi is free.

Found the hotel too far uphill from the Carbis Bay hotel. Room didn’t get serviced on 2nd day. Overall found it too expensive.

We specifically requested gluten free food due to Coeliac disease but were served up with a breakfast on the first morning with food containing gluten which had a severe reaction on my wife rendering the rest of the holiday ruined. The hotel staff also appeared to want to immediately deny any responsibilty for the occurence

The staff at the Gannet were extremely nice and the food was very nice too, but we went for a good nights sleep and we didn't get one!

The room was okay but it's location in the hotel was very poor. It overlooked mucky back yards and rooftops The room was okay but its location within the hotel was extremly ppor. It overlooked an alley way, scruffy back yards and the kitchen door. This resulted in lots of cooking smells and noise during staff tea breaks and deliveries.

The decor is quite funky and the beds were comfortable, although certain aspects of the room are starting to look a bit tatty.
Other Comments
The bathroom floor in our room was dirty with evidence of a lady with very long black hair from a previous stay. The sofa seat was very badly marked and not welcoming to sit on. However the most disappointing aspect of our stay was dinner on the second night due to the unbearable noise in the restaurant from a large loud table which we were seated next to. No thought was given to couples wanting a nice romantic dinner for two. This completely ruined our evening and the complimentary drink we received from the Duty Manager was not enough to redeem the situation. For this reason alone we would not go back to the Gannet Inn again, bad organisation created a problem which should have been avoided.

Lovely ambience and deco, especially in the bar and restaurant areas. Our room and ensuite was small but adequate for a two night stay. Again pleasing deco and all very clean. On the whole pleasant and helpful staff. Only exception was a member of bar staff over what time were could have our welcoming complimentary cocktails. It had to be before 6pm but we only arrived at 6 30pm! She suggested we had them after our meal. However, her manager eventually agreed we could have them before our meal. This was the only thing that marred a very pleasant stay.
