Oceano Hotel Health Spa, on Tenerife's north coast, was featured in The Daily Telegraph's 2015 guide to the best health and fitness retreats. The resort offers a range of treatments and programmes, including thalassotherapy, which incorporates seawater and marine minerals. The spa also offers Ayurvedic treatments, beauty rituals and detox programmes based on the teachings of Dr FX Mayr, focusing on intestinal health.
The hotel is in Punta del Hidalgo, a headland between the Anaga Mountains and the Atlantic Ocean. Its location makes it a good base for outdoor pursuits including hiking, mountain biking and surfing. The hotel is set in landscaped gardens with palm trees, and within the gardens are a seawater-filled pool and a tennis court.
There is an ocean-view fitness, saunas, an indoor thalasso pool and a whirlpool. All the hotel's pools are filled with seawater. There is variety of terraces, including a wind-sheltered nude deck on the 11th floor. In front of the hotel is Punta del Hidalgo's seaside promenade and natural seawater pool.
There are several restaurants nearby, and the hotel's own has an outdoor terrace and uses organically grown, locally produced ingredients where possible. Rooms are decorated in bright white, with accents of blue and pastel shades. They have balconies or French balconies and sea views.
