  • Hever Castle, the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, is five minutes' drive away
  • The hotel has a tennis court and a games room

Overview

Hever Hotel is in the Kent village of Hever -- known for its picturesque Tudor properties. The hotel is a 5-minute drive from the double-moated childhood home of Anne Boleyn, Hever Castle, which was built in the 13th century. Rich with Tudor artwork and furniture, it also has gardens, a lake, a woodland walk and a maze to explore.

The hotel is on the edge of the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which is full of nature reserves and hiking trails. Chartwell House, a National Trust property once belonging to Winston Churchill, is around 10 minutes' drive from the hotel. Hever Castle Golf Club, which has hosted PGA EuroPro Tour events, is next to the property.

The hotel has a main bar, an upstairs piano bar and a games room with a pool table. Breakfast and dinner are served in the Stables Restaurant, which has a rustic feel, with wooden beams and pillars. The hotel also has a gym, a tennis court and a games room.

Ok for bed and breakfast but restaurant for dinner was over priced and disappointing. Menu was pretentious and the meal was not as described. Restaurant manager wa very apologetic and gave several excuses. We ate out on our 2nd night. Breakfast was adequate and fresh but a bit chaotic. Especially around the toaster and hot drinks area. Accident waiting to happen! Senior Staff however were charming and tried their best. Our room in the courtyard was so small we were tripping over our luggage. Lighting was poor. Ok for overnight stopover but not enjoyable for a short break. Maybe because we were on a cheap deal.

Hotel in excellent location for Hever Castle and surrounding area very interesting. Hotel building was interesting and had lots of potential but sadly there was no history available for it Bar maid didn’t know what port was. Waiter at breakfast a bit over zealous at clearing the tables whilst people were still eating. Small points but came over as unprofessional.

Hotel is lovely but their restaurant is very disappointing. A very small, expensive menu.

It was pleasant. There were one or two areas that needed attention. The carpets in the corridors had obviously been water damaged yet had not been replaced. On the fire escape plan in our room (room 55) it was shown as room 54 and an additional few rooms beyond our room were not shown on that fire plan. The staff in the restaurant were pleasant but some obviously new to the job. The evening menu was VERY limited. As an old building, it would be interesting for visitors to have a little bit of history on that building. As it was, there was no information of any sort available in our room.

the staff were really friendly and helpful The Hotel was very clean and nicely decorated with a patio are and courtyards. The evening meal was very well presented and lovely flavours with a good choice to choose from The breakfast was lovely and fresh with plenty of fresh fruit, pastries and hot selection and a lovely coffee machine
Other Comments
our room was lovely and large with plenty of plug sockets and large cupboard to hang clothes in but the bathroom only had one shelf that was hanging loose so no where to put toothbrushes etc i think the hotel would benefit from either a swimming pool or some hot tubs. The games rooms are very nice and comfortable but maybe ttoo much wasted space

The staff in the restaurant and bar were great and dinner was superb.
Other Comments
Our room smelt damp and there was peeling paint above the window and it was all tired looking. Reception staff were not very welcoming and did not say have a nice stay and did not ask if everything was ok when we checked out. The hotel was quite remote and it would have been nice to have a courtesy car to the castle as the road is quite dangerous to walk down. I dont recall any infofmation stating a car is essential. We asked reception if there was a footpath and were told to ask at the golf club as they have one but were informed we couldn't walk on the golf course.
