"Our only complaint was the portion size of food and the cost of food and drink. I ordered a bowl of clam chowder and got this tiny little cup for $8. I said that I had wanted the bowl and was told that was a "bowl". The smaller size for the "cup" probably would fit 5 tablespoons full. I had just had dental work and could eat many different things, so I went hungry that night. My husband asked about whiskers and the bartender showed him a locally made one My husband got some on the rocks. When we checked out, we found out that that glass filled with lots of ice and some whiskey cost $45.. we would never eat or drink again at the inn."

Overview

The Woodstock Inn sits on land dating back to the 1700s, once owned by the Rockefeller family. Today, it's nestled between the charming town from which it takes its name and Vermont’s only national park, Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historic Park.

Following a $16.5 million renovation in 2017 that included a refurbishment of all guest rooms, the hotel’s front entry, arrival experience and first-floor public spaces have been transformed into a cozy welcome respite. Bookshelves, handpicked furniture and a massive stone fireplace set a homey feel, with the check-in process re-imaged from a singular front desk into several concierge desks to give guests a much more intimate welcome to the property.

Guest rooms are “contemporary and luxurious” (Fodor’s) and feature cherry or mahogany furnishings, handmade quilts and modern amenities like Nespresso coffeemakers, flat-screen TVs and plush robes. Each suite includes a seating area with writing desk as well as all-white bathrooms decorated with subway tile and marble.

For dinner, visitors can pick from four restaurants on the property including The Red Rooster, a AAA 4-Diamond recipient, the more casual Richardson’s Tavern, Fairway Grill’s seasonal outdoor setting and the seasonal Perly's Pourhouse at Suicide Six Ski Area.

The resort’s “stunning” 10,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art spa where "the mood is peaceful, quiet and serene" (Fodor's) also offers guests a full menu of treatments, plus a eucalyptus steam room, outdoor hot tub and cedar sauna.

Guests can enjoy a wide selection of activities throughout the year including falconry and mountain biking at the nearby Suicide Six Bike Park. For wintertime activities, take the shuttle to the famed Suicide Six Ski Area and experience world-class skiing, snowboarding and other outdoor activities. In addition, the on-site Nordic Center provides ample opportunities for cross-country skiing and fat biking -- which allows riders to navigate snow-covered terrain and have mountain biking experiences year-round.

A classic, clean hotel with aesthetically beautiful grounds. Overall it was an excellent stay. Management of the hotel could do a better job at training employees on the front desk to be pleasant and smile. They seemed much too busy to be bothered with checking in customers or anyone who stopped by with a clarification question, they tried not to look up from their laptops, however the restaurant employees and cleaning ladies were delightful.
Other Comments
I was quite surprised to see the bottled water in the rooms was just a regular bottle of tap water that was refilled daily. Really Woodstock u can do better than that for a lovely old inn. Their morning coffee "set up" was excellent.

Woodstock is a lovely town. The inn was just lovely. It is immaculate and impeccably maintained. If there was one piece of feedback to give the inn management, it would be that their staff doesn't seem to smile when engaging with customers. We found this to be true at checkin/checkout where people where very curt. The restaurant was the same. I felt like I was just being processed through. In Woodstock there is lots of shopping and places to eat. We enjoyed the local farms and museums, the Quechee area and the King Arthur Flour store and cafe.

Lovely and relaxing getaway! The Woodstock Inn is a touch of class.
Other Comments
Very lovely, upscale Inn conveniently located in the town of Woodstock, Vermont. Recent renovations a plus. Pricey food but very good. Many beautiful places to go in the area. Even though the Inn is no longer owned by Laurence Rockefeller, you can not go wrong with any of his current or past properties.

We had a simply wonderful 2-night stay at the Woodstock Inn! We swam in local swimming holes, relaxed by the pool, used the athletic club, walked around town, played in the game room ... we wish we could have stayed longer!
