Why We Love This Hotel

  • Part of a cluster of historic inns overlooking the Niagara River
  • Only a 15-minute walk to the Maid of the Mist and views of the Falls
  • Complimentary, cooked-to-order breakfast for all guests
  • Parking and Wi-Fi are free

Niagara Grandview Manor is part of a family of historic inns, which pairs perfectly with the rustic romance of the Falls themselves. All three properties are in a quieter area less frequented by tourists, but still just a 15-minute walk along the river to the Maid of the Mist and a five-minute drive to Casino Niagara. Each property carries its own history: the main house, Niagara Grandview Manor, is a 19th-century building with Victorian gingerbread trim; the centenarian Niagara Gorgeview Inn sits highest and overlooks the gorge; and the seven-bedroom Niagara Classic Inn is the family’s newest addition and features three fireplaces and hardwood floors.

Guest rooms are decorated with antique-looking furniture but have modern amenities like free W-Fi, air conditioning and cable TV. Depending on the property, some have gas fireplaces or direct access to a garden patio. A hot breakfast is included with the rooms and is made-to-order; the night before, guests can choose from entrees like traditional eggs Benedict or fresh-baked quiche Lorraine and enjoy it in the sunlit dining room each morning. Parking is complimentary, a rare find in Niagara Falls, where parking often comes at a premium.

Under renovation and construction so know improvements will be made but over all nice place. Remote didn't work for changing channels so was an inconvenience. Great location for walking and friendly staff/owners

Location was excellent, truly a 12 minute walk to falls ,but away from the hectic downtown area. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice and the perks of winery coupons and other discounts a great deal

The only problem we had was that our room wasn’t at that location as we were moved 3 doors down as apparently our room was damaged from ongoing construction going on for the past 2 years, we were not advised of this as we felt a phone call or email telling us of this situation as we were expecting to stay in building as advertised.

Price was attractive, but it came "at a price" if you know what I mean based on my comments above. The addition of winery coupons with wine tasting offers turned out being of a good value.

We have been celebrating one of our anniversaries that year. We didn't like the following: 1) Staff appearance and lack of basic knowledge or advice when asked about dietary restrictions or options for low sugar content in a breakfast menu. Our expectations were high based on earlier reviews about the chef serving fantastic breakfast. Turns out he wasn't there any more. 2) Bike rental was another perk included in the package, but recently removed from the offer by the new management. 3) Room with the view on the gorge was only a partial one as it was facing the side road 4) Room was recently updated, but very roughly lacking any attention to detail and looking too close was causing frustration, Balcony was clearly outdated and asking for renovation with peeling paint all over the floor. 5) Breakfast wasn't made fresh and to our surprise was served literally instantly as we were taking our seats at the table. My pancakes were plain cold, taken straight from the fridge. Staff comment only caused more frustration, as instead of being helpful and apologetic we were lead to believe that we don't know how the fruit pancakes should be served (cold). What a revelation. My wife had eggs Benedict, also prefixed and not fresh, lacking the usual finesse. 6) Place was under construction, clearly affecting the outside and inside ambiance, taking it further away from "weekend getaway" image.

The breakfast was well worth having. Not only a choice of hot entree, but also a mini buffet to pick from at the same time.

We took this getaway to rest and relax. However, the manor was under major renovation, of which we were not told about in the ad or we would not have booked it. The construction was loud, making it impossible to stay in the room, nevermind the manor during the day. There were trip hazards outside. The first night started with a fire alarm just after we went to bed. There were no apologies for this or even the noise or mess. The room was very tired and dated. I don't mean period furnished either. There was an obvious need of cosmetic refresh. The staff were not very professional or even dressed in a way that gave us confidence they knew their job.

Location is very good. Breakfast area is cozy and food was good.
Other Comments
The room we were given was old, cold and drafty. The door would not close properly unless you really slam it to close and push very hard to open. The room has new laminate floor, but the furniture feels like it has been brought in from some old storage. The tiny bathroom looks as if it has been renovated 'by owner', with mold creeping out at the bottom of tiles around the bathtub. Even the bath towels were small.

The Manor was under renovation during our stay. We were not bothered by any works happening, it only detracted from the beauty of the original building. Once the works are complete the building will be beautiful again.

Very friendly staff and delicious breakfast. Great location and very spacious room.
Other Comments
I enjoyed my stay overall but a couple of things could be improved. The thermostat didn't work in our room and that would explain why there's a little portable heater already placed in the room. The heater was sufficient to keep us warm but it was pretty noisy. My other complaint would be the bath towels... there were very thin and old. I got lint all over my hair and body after drying myself with it. Maybe it's time to replace the bath towels. Otherwise, great place to stay!
