Set to open in October, 2016, Leman Locke is a brand-new aparthotel in Aldgate, east London. It is an excellent location for sightseeing -- iconic sights like the Tower of London and Tower Bridge are 15 minutes' walk away. The City, London's financial district, is a 20-minute walk away. This is where you'll find the Monument to the Great Fire of London and St Paul's Cathedral, which is described by Fodor's as "a breathtaking structure, inside and out".
The property is just around the corner from Aldgate East tube station in London's East End, a trendy area that offers "an irresistible mix of old and new", says Time Out. It is home to Brick Lane, known for its market, curry houses and bagel shops, and the Whitechapel Gallery, which offers a rolling calendar of exhibitions and is "a firm favourite of art students and the avant-garde cognoscenti" (Lonely Planet). Old Spitalfields Market, a covered market with food stalls, clothing and antiques, is 10 minutes' walk away.
The aparthotel is the first in a new brand of design apartments, named after philosopher John Locke. The properties are designed to mirror their local neighbourhoods, and offer full-service facilities, including a coffee shop. All guests get access to the on-site gym.
At 29 square metres, the chic Studios are bigger than the average London hotel room. One Bedroom Locke Suites are even larger. Each has free high-speed Wi-Fi and an Apple TV so guests can stream movies from their Netflix or Amazon accounts. They all have full kitchens, kitted out with Smeg appliances, and come with a welcome pack of tea, coffee and energy bars.
