Overview

Sonoma Coast Villa & Spa is a quaint and charming stay located in California Wine Country. The hotel is an easy drive to more than 40 wineries in the Russian River Valley. The hotel is also located just six miles from Bodega Bay, a quintessential California coastline.

The rooms are spacious and relaxing with secluded patios and wood-burning fireplaces; most even have radiant heated flooring in the bathrooms. All king rooms also boast in-room Jacuzzi tubs. The décor is inspired by the Italian countryside, with slate flooring, rustic beam ceilings and calming earth tones.

The hotel restaurant, with new executive chef Ivan Rodriguez, serves dishes with organic ingredients and wines from the local wineries. The on-site nine-hole putting green is a nice activity between wine tastings as is the spa. Some of the best Sonoma wineries, as noted by Food & Wine magazine, are an easy 30-minute drive north into the Russian River wine region. The hotel is also close to several Sonoma County parks, where guests can take a picnic and soak up the natural beauty – or, for those who prefer retail therapy, the Coddingtown Mall, Montgomery Village and Santa Rosa Plaza are all an easy drive from the hotel.

Staff was friendly and very helpful. The room was nice but the landscaping needs much work. It looks run down on the outside. I'm not sure what the standard rates are but the Travelzoo price made it a decent deal.
Other Comments
The staff was great, especially Lisa and Hunter.

The front desk staff presented a bill of $540 at checkout which was very confusing. The only charges we would have was the massage and pet fee so the breakdown did not delineate what was paid and what was remaining. The initial employee was very unhelpful and had to speak w/ the manager. It was finally resolved after a 30 Min delay speaking w/ Travelzoo. The place was nice but very old and minimal amenities. Not a fan of the service.
Other Comments
The heating system did not work while temperatures outside were •40 making the stay a chilly one. Staff was informed about that but their techs never resolved the temperature issue. The fireplace was available but the wood was saturated and did ignite so only the paper and fire starter burned for approximately 30 mins.

Staff seemed to work together very well. We enjoyed happy hour with the wine tasting and Erik. Needs to have more sweet wine, like Frivola from Niceto winery in Amador for those sunny afternoon rests.

Our dinner in the restaurant was delicious.

The fire alarm went off twice. No one from hotel interacted with us. I called the front desk and had to wait 20 minutes. I asked the front desk if there was a fire who would call the front desk and they gave me double talk. It was scary. The room was sub par. I was disappointed in the hotel.
