Overview

The Grosvenor Hotel is a spectacular Victorian property within walking distance of many London attractions, including Buckingham Palace and St James's Park which are 10 minutes away. This former railway hotel, which has impressive French Renaissance inspired décor, is next door to London Victoria and has its own private entrance to the station.

This property is around the corner from the Victoria Palace Theatre, and Chelsea, the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben are 20 minutes' walk away. If you want to venture further, you can jump on the underground -- Victoria is on the District, Circle and Victoria lines.

The Grosvenor Hotel is a Grade II-listed building which was built by railway pioneers in 1862. The Daily Telegraph describes the property as "theatrical", noting the "imperial staircase made from heavily-veined marble, thickly gilded walls, and duck-green pilasters topped with moulds of roaring lions". The hotel's drawing room, which is where afternoon tea is served, features tall ceilings, arched windows and is decorated with oil paintings of 19th-century aristocracy.

The hotel's Grand Imperial London restaurant serves Cantonese food, but you can also eat and drink at the Grosvenor Arms, which is less formal. The rooms all have iPod docks and air conditioning. Wi-Fi is free throughout and there's a gym, and 24-hour room service is available.

The staff was SO kind. Maria especially. Stayed here with my husband as we explored London and took a couple day trips out of London, but made this our “home base.” Maria gave us the most beautiful room for our anniversary and everything was wonderful. The hotel itself is gorgeous. The tube from Heathrow airport took us right to Victoria Station, which has its own door into the Grosvenor Hotel. The beds are comfortable, the room was dry and nicely air conditioned, and I just wish we could stay here for the whole 2 weeks we’re in the U.K.! That’s how much we loved the place...

Great location and, again, Maria was awesome! Bathrooms were roomy and everything was clean. Elegant and just a beautiful place!

We stayed for my husbands birthday and the hotel accepted delivery of some balloons for me. They had the room ready for 11am and very kindly gave us a bottle of bubbly in the room. The staff have been excellent through.
Other Comments
I broke a light switch in the room and reported it to reception. The staff member was very polite and told me not to worry at all and it would be fixed within the hour.
