Why We Love This Hotel

Hotel Bernina 1865 occupies a historic building in the town of Samedan in the Engadin valley. The hotel is around 10 minutes' drive from "impeccably glamorous" (The Daily Telegraph) St Moritz, the oldest and most famous ski resort in the Swiss Alps.
The Corvatsch ski area is accessible via the Surlej LSC ski lift, approximately 20 minutes' drive or 35 minutes by bus (the nearest bus stop is two minutes' walk from the hotel). Samedan is around 20 minutes by train from St Moritz Lake, where you can windsurf in the summer or snow kite in the winter.
In summer, you can hike up Muottas Muragl -- which is 20 minutes by bus from Samedan -- for views over the valley. There is also a funicular up the 700-metre peak from Punt Muragl station. For shopping, Via Serlas in St Moritz is brimming with designer boutiques and is around 20 minutes away by bus.
The 53 rooms are decorated in traditional Engadin style: cozy with light wooden furniture and parquet floors. In the bathroom we especially liked the chrome and marble furniture. The Comfort and Deluxe rooms offer views of the Bernina Mountains or the mountain forest.
The hotel has three restaurants: the Stube serves traditional Engadin cuisine. TheImperialprovides also serves breakfast daily between 7:30-10am, and Restaurant 1865 serves italian dishes. There is also a lounge bar and a nightclub. Wi-Fi and parking are free. In the wellness area you can relax at no extra charge in the sauna, steam bath and whirlpool. Trained masseurs pamper you in the beauty salon.
