Lush lawns lead down to the shores of Lake Geneva at Hotel La Barcarolle, which sits among "historic châteaux and country homes" (Fodor’s) and has views of Mont Blanc. This "superior" (ViaMichelin) lodging is housed in a distinctive mustard-coloured 1920s building with a striking red roof, and is set on extensive tree-lined parkland. It's around a 10-minute drive from Nyon, with its quaint winding streets, Roman remains and medieval castle, and the prestigious Golf Club Domaine Impérial. Both Lausanne, known for its picturesque old town and Gothic cathedral, and Geneva are within a 40-minute drive of the hotel.
Hotel La Barcarolle features a lobby lounge with plush sofas, a cosy, wood-panelled bar area and a grand stone fireplace. Guests can sample French cuisine in the restaurant, where floor-to-ceiling windows provide lake and mountain views. You can also dine on the terrace in summer. There's also an outdoor pool, table tennis facilities and mountain bikes, plus a lakeside spot for cocktails.
Guestrooms come with free Wi-Fi, TVs and mini bars, as well as lake-view terraces opening onto the gardens. Suites include balconies, whirlpool tubs and direct access to the grounds.
