Playing a big hand in the city's new accolade, The Asbury hotel is a trendy new hub that pays homage to the area's vibrant energy.
The red brick façade of the long-abandoned Salvation Army building reopened in 2016 as a trendy boutique hotel, the area's first in over half a century. Featuring 10 room types ranging from bunk beds that sleep eight to family suites, the property is a good fit for all travel styles. All accommodations include rainfall showers and custom-made mattresses. Minimalist design is accented with blown-up black-and-white photos of seaside scenes from the city’s heyday and vintage music posters.
Guests are encouraged to rediscover their inner child in the rec room-style lobby, which includes a pool table, pinball machine and board games; spread out on the rooftop lawn for movie nights (open Fridays & Saturdays after Labor Day); and make new friends at the grab-and-go kitchen’s communal tables. The hotel boasts views of the ocean from two rooftop venues and the lobby bar, which offers a regular rotation of live musical performances. The recently updated pool is open seasonally, closing for the season in October.
To revisit the Jersey Shore’s past, guests should visit the nearby landmarks that remain on Asbury Park’s Boardwalk. Visitors can have fortunes told at Madam Marie’s Temple of Knowledge and see a concert at Stone Pony -- one of Springsteen’s favorite spots.

Enjoyed the experience of the hotel very much. One block from the beach. Near great restaurants. Be ready for unique architecture and furnishings. In season parking can be very difficult but the hotel has valet parking...$20 per day but with Travelzoo it was free (thank you!!!!) The rooftop bar has beautiful views and not to be missed in good weather.FYI the hotel has no restaurant but does have a limited counter with light fare. It is also a pet friendly hotel for those who need to know.

A bit loud. Bring ear plugs. A bit of a party hotel so a little less family-friendly just in terms of people getting back late and being loud. This was even on a Wednesday night stay :(!

Rooftop bar was cool except needs heat lamps. It was windy & chilly up there, we couldn't stay too long. Also The pool area had cool decor but wish the pool was deeper.

The deluxe room was very 'Ikea'like. Thankful we only stayed one night bc the bed was uncomfortable like a pull-out. The bathroom saloon style door truly should not have a gap in the middle when you close it. Considering the layout of the room with the bed right outside,it was a bit uncomfortable knowing the doors weren't completely shut.

The lobby was very cool & they had entertainment at night and music all day long wherever you were. The food at grab & go was very good as was the food at the pool. I heard the rooftop bar area was really nice but we were too tired after going out to dinner but we will go the next time we stay here. Customer service at the hotel is excellent!!! They need to put clocks in the room. Our room was comfy though, we had a family room with great views of the ocean.😁

Beautiful brand new hotel, the pool area is really amazing - designed for relaxation and enjoyment Drinks are served poolside and they are big, delicious and served by a friendly, attentive staff. We liked hanging out in the lobby area which has another bar, plenty of seating, live music in the evening, and a pool table.
I think the best thing about this hotel is it has the single most comfortable bed we have ever slept in - mattress, pillows, and sheets are the best quality and if you can't sleep well in that bed you won't sleep well anywhere.

I didn't love the size and style of the room - it seemed spartan and cold. The bathroom wasn't designed for women who have beauty products as there isn't enough room to put all your items.
From a Travelzoo perspective this is the important comment I want to make - the special was advertised as one night with two drinks and free parking for $125. So I paid for two nights. When we checked in they didn't have coupons for the drinks and then told us we only would receive the drinks for one night even though we paid the same amount of money for 2 nights. When I questioned this with the person working at the desk I was told to read the fine print and to address this with Travelzoo. I despise being nickled and dimed and this entire discussion annoyed me. The drinks aren't terribly expensive and I can certainly afford to pay for my own but that isn't really the point, is it?

The room was small and reminded you of a mental institution. The furniture was uncomfortable and difficult to get out of. The hallways were narrow and you coyhear every word in the hallway. The sink didn't drain properly. The staff was very nice

A couple things that I think they could do:
We had no hot water one evening and were told it was the time of day and everyone was taking a shower. Really?
No lotion in the room and the only lotion at the front desk is $55.00 - Come on people are out in the sun all day and need moisturizer.
I get that you don't want to have superior food to encourage people to visit it Asbury restaurants but a better choice for lunch if you are spending the day at the pool would be great.

Enjoyed the hotel grounds, pool area and lobby. Room was a bit basic, and the mattress a bit too soft/thin. Drink prices at the bar quite high. Elevator squeaked a lot, quite scary.
