Shrewsbury railway station is a 15-minute walk from the hotel, or there's a taxi rank right outside. There is no on-site parking, but the hotel is next to St Julian's Friars long-stay car park.
Darwin's Townhouse is a late-18th-century Georgian property that underwent a complete refurbishment in 2016 to turn it into a 20-bedroom boutique bed and breakfast in the heart of Shrewsbury town centre.
Located on a quiet street, the hotel overlooks many of the town's Tudor buildings and it's a short stroll from the shops, restaurants and bars of the town centre. The hotel is 100 metres from the River Severn path -- great for a waterside stroll.
Battlefield Falconry Centre and Attingham Park, an English country house owned by the National Trust, are 15 minutes' drive away. The Dana Prison, which offers jailhouse tours, is 10 minutes' walk away. The ruins of Haughmond Abbey are less than 20 minutes' drive away.
Awarded 5-Star B&B status by The AA, the hotel has an octagonal lounge with a fire, books, and games. Retreat to the snug (with a fully stocked honesty bar) or head to the large, bright conservatory with views of the gardens. The modern décor is complemented by features such as a stone staircase and original fireplaces.
Breakfast is served in the conservatory, and features local seasonal produce. While the hotel does not serve lunch or dinner, it has two sister restaurants within a short stroll: The Loopy Shrew, serving traditional English cuisine, and Porterhouse SY1, which offers American-inspired dishes.

Room was lovely and clean - just too small and noisy for me to get a decent sleep!
Staff were great! Thank you so much.
Although we didn't use the lounge as we were too tired, I thought the honesty bar was a brilliant idea!
