Early in 2016, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants awarded a management contract to Hotel Zamora, on the Gulf Coast of Florida. In 2014, the property made waves along the state’s western beaches as St. Pete Beach’s first newly constructed hotel to open in 20 years. Before joining the Kimpton family, the boutique hotel earned the second slot on Conde Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards "Top 20 Hotels and Beaches in Florida."

Featuring the Romanesque architecture of its namesake Spanish province, archways of the hotel’s white-washed exterior reveal wrought iron balconies of suites looking out at the Gulf of Mexico or Intracoastal Waterway. All rooms have complimentary Wi-Fi, walk-in spa showers with separate soaking tubs and two queens or one king bed. For more space, guests can upgrade to suites including living rooms with sofa beds.

The lagoon pool is partially shaded by a wide terrace hanging above and surrounded by cantaloupe chaise lounges and complimented with an outdoor whirlpool tub. Steps from the pool, guests can soak up the sun from the beach or dock at the seven-slip marina. A daily $20 resort fee includes morning coffee, two beach chairs, towels, access to the fitness center and fishing off the Zamora Pier.

Visitors can dine on Mediterranean cuisine at Castille, the property’s modern seaside grill. The restaurant serves three meals a day and late night cocktails indoors as well as outside on the oceanfront terrace. 360 Rooftop is the ideal spot to enjoy a sunset cocktail with panoramic views of the Gulf of Mexico and Intercoastal Waterway. VIP cabanas are available to rent and weekday happy hour specials start at $3 per drink.

Not for the price!

No porters, staff unfamiliar with amenities, location of ice machines , roof bar. Only 2 small glasses in room, no coffee maker except upon request, 3 separate elevators required to reach roof bar from ground floor, valet unable to find my car less than one hour after checkin. No way to Gulf beach without crossing busy 4 lane Gulf Blvd, without light or even crosswalk. Checkin desk so high and massive that personal, friendly rapport with checkin/checkout staff unlikely.

The size of the room was larger than I had expected.
Other Comments
The room was in need of a good cleaning and maintenance. Bulbs in the bathroom needed to be replaced. The shower had mildewed grout. The carpeting had stains. Many switches no longer worked and most no longer controlled any lights.

Be sure to check your bill, they charge full resort fee ahead of time and won't deduct it unless you tell them to

The rooms are fantastic, bed was very comfortable..pillows too. The rooftop bar is absolutely incredible for sunsets and sunrise. The layout of the rooms is well thought out, especially in the suites which have a glass wall with curtains and door separating the bedroom from the sitting area, providing a nice place for those who wake up early to enjoy without waking up anyone. Daily happy hour with wine and beer was a nice touch as was the evening kayak ride we took from the rear of the hotel. I can't leave the valet guys out either as they were always welcoming in our daily travels in and out. They also help with the kayak rentals so they have a lot to do despite everyone dropping off their cars. I'll mention a few things that need improving but in no way affect my great experience at the hotel: 3-4 light bulbs were out in various lamps in our room, elevators are very slow and the pool typically fills up with people who love to drink..alot, and with kids, this is less than ideal
Other Comments
The front desk staff was wonderful and always helpful. After driving around, this hotel appears to be one of the most current with respect to design and amenities. Every other property seems to be stuck in a 1960's time warp. Hotel Zamora doesn't feel like that and I was happy about that. I would definitely come back the next time I'm in the area.
