Cheadle House is a Victorian property in Cheshire, and with the centre of Manchester and the Peak District National Park both accessible within half an hour's drive, it's a great base for a cosmopolitan city break or a countryside getaway.
If walking or shopping don't tickle your fancy visit the Hat Works Museum, which houses over 400 hats from all over the world and is the UK's only museum dedicated to the hatting industry, or experience life in wartime Britain in the 1940s at Stockport Air Raid Shelters -- both are about 10 minutes' drive from the hotel. Tatton Park, a 30-minute drive away, has grounds that feature a maze, a walled kitchen garden and a Japanese garden, and you can also look around the 18th-century mansion and see how both the elite and their servants lived.
Science enthusiasts should check out the Jodrell Bank Discovery Centre, where you can learn about the universe and the giant Lovell Telescope. The centre is 25 minutes' drive from the hotel.
Bedrooms at Cheadle House are furnished in neutral tones, and all have free Wi-Fi. You can eat in either the Alderley Restaurant or the Mottram Bar, and there's a children's menu, designed to give them at least one of their five a day.
