Overview
Built as an exclusive gated community, the Somerset on Grace is now one of Turks and Caicos’ smallest resorts with just 53 units, but those are some of the biggest apartments on the island. The all-suite hotel occupies over 4.5 acres of pristine property on Grace Bay. In addition to soft white sand and sparkling turquoise waves, tourists are catered to with water sports like diving, kayaking and snorkeling as well as bottomless tropical cocktails.
Beyond the beach, the Somerset has two pools, one a reverse-current lap pool with underwater speakers and the other a zero-edge infinity pool overflowing into the horizon. Guests should hit the complimentary sunscreen bar before soaking up the sun from a chaise lounge where waiters are ready to serve frozen drinks and refreshing snacks. The hotel’s fitness center includes Cybex training equipment and steam rooms. Stays include free access to bicycle rentals and the kids’ club, with activities like tie-dying and movie nights. There is a small spa on-site with a couples massage room and the option of in-room treatments.
Villas are available with one- to five-bedrooms, accommodating as many as 12 guests and are ideal for families or groups traveling together. All suites have marble floors, rainfall showers and private patios with grills and hot tubs. Wi-Fi, flat-screen televisions in every room and iPod docking stations come standard while upgraded villas have additional bathrooms, private garages and wraparound terraces with ocean views.
The gourmet kitchens can be stocked before arrival so visitors can take advantage of the convenience. Those who prefer to dine out have the choice of a casual meal poolside at LunaSea or upscale seafood at Pavilion. On Tuesdays, the resort hosts a beach barbecue with grilled surf and turf accompanied by Caribbean cuisine, a live DJ and fire dancers.
