In Santa Cruz, Tenerife's bustling capital, Silken Atlantida is a modern glass-fronted high-rise hotel with a rooftop terrace overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
It's within walking distance of the city's main attractions including the Espacio de la Artes, which has a permanent exhibition of works by Tenerife-born surrealist painter, Oscar Dominguez, considered to be up there with the likes of Miro and Dali. Make time to see the Museo de la Naturaleza y el Hombre, which is housed in a former hospital and celebrates natural science and archaeology. The seafront auditorium hosts live music events including the annual Tenerife Opera Festival. The city is served by an efficient bus system which means it's easy to explore this northeast corner of the island.
There's no pool on site but it's a 15-minute drive to Playa Teresitas beach, and there's a relaxation terrace with loungers, two saunas and two hot tubs. There's also a fitness centre with views of the city. Dishes at the restaurant are inspired by Mediterranean and Canarian cuisine, and the Gastrobar serves local wines and tapas.
The rooms overlook the city or the sea and have light-wood panelling and navy-blue furnishings. Club rooms include access to the Silken Club lounge for all-day drinks, snacks and newspapers. Deluxe rooms and Suites have hydromassage bathtubs. All rooms include free Wi-Fi.
