The Marker Waterfront Resort is not like most other Key West hotels. As the first luxury hotel in over 20 years to be built in the marina area, the Marker didn’t have to rely on historic charm or a complete renovation to create a posh paradise.
In an updated version of the conch-style housing favored in this area, the exterior has Victorian details like gabled roofs, wraparound porches and balconies with white picket fences.
Inside, the rooms are Pinterest-perfect for those who love the soft contemporary look. White walls, beds and linens are the backdrop for textiles and accents in graphic oceanic patterns and prints in shades of aqua and turquoise that echo the surrounding Gulf waters.
Rooms have Keurig coffeemakers and private balconies just right for sitting and sipping. If you want a taste of local flavor instead, walk across the street to Cuban Coffee Queen and try a gordito, a double shot Cuban espresso with cane sugar and topped with steamed milk.
The boutique property is just a few blocks away from the action of Duval Street but set apart from the hubbub.
Although there’s no beach access here, the hotel has two end-to-end pools with a deck and a third adults-only quiet pool tucked away by the main entrance. Patrons looking to party can try the bar that spills out onto the pool deck area. The house specialties are tequila tastings and Spanish wines, and the attached Cero Bodega restaurant serves Latin-influenced fare all day.
