Wychwood Park, near Crewe, is a great base from which to explore the "genteel" (Lonely Planet) county of Cheshire. Known for its dramatic landscapes and undulating hills, Cheshire is also home to some interesting towns and cities. Chester, which is an hour's drive from the hotel, has a cathedral founded in 1092 and medieval city walls that measure almost two miles in circumference. We recommend walking a circuit of the walls as the best way to see the city.

The World of Wedgwood visitor centre is around 30 minutes' drive from the hotel -- you can take a tour around the porcelain factory or explore the Wedgwood museum and flagship store. National Trust property Tatton Park is around 45 minutes' drive from the hotel, and Buxton, Alton Towers, Old Trafford stadium and the market town of Nantwich are less than an hour away by car. Manchester city centre is a little over an hour's drive away.

The property has 110 bedrooms, all with free Wi-Fi. There is a bar and restaurant on site. Wychwood Hotel underwent a £3 million refurbishment in July, 2019, during which a a fitness suite was added and the bar and restaurant received a fresh new look. The 18-hole golf course has hosted European Tour qualifying events, and there's also a pro shop.

Beautiful hotel staff were good and so was the food. The rooms where basic but nice, however there is very little sound proofing and the rooms where very noisy. You can hear the rooms either side, the above room and anyone out in the corridor. So not great if you want to get away and feel rested.

Had a really nice stay at the hotel. There is no way to fault this deal, the value for money is exceptional! I’m even tempted to go back! We had a three course meal which was fantastic! Beautifully presented & cooked with care. Our room was lovely & the bed was very comfy. There was hair and a few bits of paper on the bathroom floor from the previous occupant so that let it down slightly but other than that the room was spotless. Breakfast was exceptional! Fantastic choice and served from the kitchen with the same effort and presentation as the evening meal. There was a wonderful selection of fruit, pastries and cold meats, perfect start to the day although I can imagine that it would probably be quite chaotic on a busy day with lots of people descending on the buffet. I will echo previous comments though. The downstairs of the hotel is so open plan and it was really cold. Other people dining were in cardigans and even a coat which I really envied! Definitely wrap up for dinner! Overall though, fantastic stay and most definitely value for money!

The staff, hotel and room were all good

The restaurant at 7.39 was empty - only one other person came in on a Friday night. Cost of starters seemed excessive. Main course was not good. Served as an aesthetic experience the food was actually poor! Seems the look was more important to the chef than the taste. A good job the restaurant manager was apologetic and sympathetic to our comments. Later bar staff were excellent, friendly and helpful and retrieved the evening!!
