Located between Morpeth and Alnwick, Macdonald Linden Hall Golf & Country Club was built by merchant and banker Charles William Bigge in 1812. The property is set in 450 acres of private grounds and parkland with views of the Cheviot Hills and wild Northumberland landscapes.
Walkers will have plenty of options for a ramble, with Northumberland National Park and coastal strolls at Seahouses both around a 30-minute drive away. Other local attractions include Alnwick Castle (20 minutes' drive), Bamburgh Castle (40 minutes' drive) and the shops and nightlife of Newcastle city centre, which is 35 minutes' drive away.
The hotel has an 18-hole golf course, a driving range, and spa and fitness facilities. The health club is free for guests and has a gym, a 12-metre indoor heated pool, a sauna and a Jacuzzi.
The 2-AA-Rosette Dobson Restaurant provides a fine-dining experience (Friday-Sunday), or you can eat in the more informal Linden Tree pub. The AA Restaurant Guide 2017 describes the upscale Dobson Restaurant as a "relaxed setting for well-conceived dishes" topped off with "relaxed, professional service".
The AA says "good-sized bedrooms have a modern style". Inside you'll find traditional décor with TVs, and free Wi-Fi, tea, coffee and mineral water. The spacious Executive and Feature Rooms also provide free fruit and chocolate, a fluffy bathrobe and slippers, and countryside views.
