The Kings Head Hotel
Why We Love This Hotel
- This 19th-century coach-house hotel was once part of the nearby Sandringham Estate
- There are only 12 bedrooms, all individually designed
- The AA-Rosette-awarded restaurant makes good use of local produce -- "everything looks good on the plate", says The AA
Once part of the nearby Sandringham Estate, the 3-star Kings Head Hotel is a Grade II-listed coach-house hotel with only 12 rooms. It's 10 miles from the Norfolk coast and is a good base from which to explore the surrounding area.
Houghton Hall is a 10-minute drive away, and Holkham Hall and Estate is less than 30 minutes by car. The market towns of King's Lynn and Fakenham are also nearby. There are bikes to hire on site if you don't feel like driving.
The hotel's AA-Rosette-awarded restaurant "makes good use of Norfolk's plentiful larder" (The AA Restaurant Guide) and serves a roast lunch on Sundays. The bar has a vast gin collection with 80 varieties from all over the world, and a neighbouring play area for children. The sitting room features a grand piano and comfy sofas around a roaring fire.
Take the modern glass staircase upstairs to reach the 12 bedrooms, which are all individually designed. Well-behaved dogs are welcome and most rooms have enough space for two extra beds for children.
