Turquoise water, a tranquil lagoon and white-sand beaches beckon at the 4.5-star Belize Ocean Club on the northern end of the Placencia Peninsula in Belize. Laze away the afternoon from the comforts of a beach chair or hammock, or take a dip in the beachfront infinity pool. Grab a snorkel, and explore the vibrant sea life of the Caribbean right from the beach. Complimentary use of paddleboards and kayaks makes it easy to explore the water from above.

Accommodations at this all-suite resort are modern and airy with ample natural light. The fully furnished suites start at 900 square feet but feel even larger thanks to vaulted ceilings and French doors that open out onto large, private patios. All rooms have air-conditioning, and the bedrooms feature en-suite bathrooms.

Linger over a casual meal at the Ocean Club Bar & Grill, just steps from the beach. Guests can even arrange for a candlelit dinner right on the sand complete with your own personal waiter. For a more formal affair, head to the Shore House Restaurant, located on the lagoon side of the resort. Plan your dinner to coincide with sunset over the Maya Mountains for a truly memorable experience.

In addition to the on-site activities, the resort offers a number of inland and ocean excursions. Visit Mayan ruins, zip-line through the rain forest, or take a boat tour down Monkey River for great bird-watching and monkey-sighting. Experienced and novice divers can arrange for excursions to explore the Belize Barrier Reef—the largest barrier reef in the Caribbean and second largest in the world. If fishing is more your speed, the hotel also offers fly fishing and deep-sea fishing outings.

Suites were spacious and well equipped with very comfortable beds. Any time there was an issue in the unit, from needing any additional kitchen items, to a leaky faucet, to issues with the tv or cleaning the floors of sand, the office reacted immediately in taking care of it all. The hotel was beautifully landscaped and immaculately clean. The pool was large and glisteningly clean. The covered outdoor eating areas right on the beach were perfect for sitting at tables for lunch or a snack. The Sunday barbecue was a special treat-very plentiful and delicious! There was enough food to save half for dinner in our room that evening. Staff everywhere was friendly and accommodating. The restaurant (16 degrees) was lovely and food was beautifully presented and delicious. Two evenings they prepared fish we’d caught along with sides, and all was scrumptious! We felt very well taken care of and never worried about any dangers.

The resort itself had a great location and was very quiet.

One of the windows in our room was left unlocked and the screen was removed. It appeared to us that this was done so someone could enter our room when we were not there or maybe even when we where. Also, prices at he resort are in US dollars which equates to twice as much for food, drinks, etc. than most other places in the area that we dined.

Their dive shop was not truthful about dives. We tried to book on Friday and couldn't until Monday but they called Sunday night and said they wouldn't be going out till Tuesday because of weather conditions. Monday was sunny and calm. Tuesday was windy but we were able to book a dive through another company and it was fine. Definitely would not recommend their dive shop.
