With its Georgian buildings, winding streets and Roman baths, Bath is "the grandest and most elegant" city in England, according to Condé Nast Traveller. It can also be on the expensive side, but the 4-star Bailbrook Lodge is a reasonably priced option less than 10 minutes' drive from the city centre.

It has 15 bedrooms, five of which are Four Poster bedrooms, with views of the property's pretty gardens and the Avon Valley beyond. Rooms are individually designed with DVD players, iPod docking stations, cotton slippers and tea- and coffee-making facilities as standard in all rooms, and Wi-Fi is free throughout. There is no lift, so ask for a ground-floor room if anyone in your party has mobility requirements.

Cooked breakfast is made to order, and there is also a choice of pastries, cereal and fruit. Snacks, including afternoon tea, are served in the lounge throughout the day and there's a small bar. There is no on-site restaurant serving lunch or dinner but there are plenty of restaurants 10 minutes' drive away in central Bath, including Brasserie Brunel at sister property the Royal Hotel Bath. There are other dining options including riverside pubs within 10 minutes' walk of the hotel.

The hotel has plenty of free off-street parking, but finding parking in the city can be tricky. There is a bus stop a 5-minute walk from the property with a regular service into the city centre.

Shame there is no restaurant for dinner, Bath is a £10 taxi ride away, or the bus stops across the road, if you want to go out to dinner.

Highly recommend this hotel, it was perfect! The staff were very friendly and would do anything to make the stay even better. The room was very spacious, clean and had everything you needed! The breakfasts were tasty, lots to pick from and the complimentary champayne was a nice little touch! The location is just outside bath with a bus taking not even 10mins into the centre which runs very often and till late if you wanted to go out for food and then drinks. The deal we got was great value for money with everything we got included! We will be going back to visit again soon!
