Overview

Situated in the authentic Gràcia barrio, the Casa Gracia Hostel is within walking distance to many of Barcelona's top attractions. The area, "one of the most popular and vibrant districts in the city" (Time Out), has a variety of bars, restaurants and boutique shops.

Take a stroll through the barrio's narrow streets and "marvel at the portfolio of avant-garde architect Antoni Gaudí"  (Harper’s Bazaar). Gaudí's Casa Milà is a 5-minute walk from the Casa Gracia, and La Sagrada Família, Gaudí's all-consuming obsession and the most visited monument in Spain, is 20 minutes' walk from the hostel. Gaudi's Park Güell, described as an "Art Nouveau extravaganza" by Fodor's, is three stops away on the Metro. The tree-lined La Rambla, a "window into Catalan culture" (Lonely Planet) is also three stops on the Metro.

Amenities at the Casa Gracia, with its "vaulted ceilings, Corinthian columns, picture windows and snowy white rooms" (The Guardian), include a daily cleaning service, a laundry service, an outdoor terrace, and a common area. Breakfast is available at the Casa Gracia's new restaurant, La Paisana, at an additional cost. The hostel also runs a walking tour of the city every morning at 11am.

The air-conditioned suites and apartments all have a twin room, a living room, a fully equipped kitchen, a TV and free WiFi. Some suites and apartments have views over Passeig de Gràcia, Barcelona's main shopping street.

It was clean.

The room itself was not the same as pictures shown on travel zoo. It was so small you could hardly walk around the bed. The 'romantic balcony' as stated turned out to be a window looking out to the air conditioning unit and a wall. The Double room/ double bed was two single beds put together which were really uncomfortable. When I asked if there could be any change of room, it was a straight 'no' from the staff.

The hotel itself is nice, good located, nice staff, cool design.
Other Comments
The size of the room was unsatisfactory. There was only space to walk around the bed, not more. The "view" from the window was into a small, wet and smelly channel. Even more disappointing was the volume level. The rooms are absolutely badly soundproofed and the people were terribly loud. Doors were slammed all the time, also during the night. You can only sleep with earplugs. After 4 nights I was totally exhausted. The hotel might be good for young people or big groups, but not for "regular" tourists.

The rooms were very small. The 2nd night the air conditioner stopped working and was a very hot night.

Staff were friendly and did their best to accommodate us, specifically Alfonso in reception was very helpful.
Other Comments
The hotel did not have our booking secured, and we had to wait 3 hours to actually get a room. Also they did not offer the upgrade nor bottle of wine stated in your deal - when I asked they said they did not do that at all. The hotel was undergoing renovations so there was tradesmen working in the halls, stairwells etc, marble stairs were all covered with taped on bown paper that was in places a serious trip hazard, and there were also glue fumes that made my husband sick. I think I wont use Travel Zoo again as this was my first time using travel zoo and although the hotel was adequate it was not good and the deal was incomplete
