Blackpool is the "quintessential British seaside experience", according to The Independent, and the 4-star Imperial Hotel on the North Promenade, close to many popular attractions, is a great base from which to explore it.
Blackpool's historic tramway runs from Starr Gate to Fleetwood, taking in the Golden Mile -- the stretch between the North and South Piers -- along the way. Trams stop directly outside the hotel.
As well as having a "prime seafront location" (The AA Hotel Guide 2019), the hotel is less than 20 minutes' walk from The Grand Theatre and Blackpool Tower. Blackpool Pleasure Beach, voted one of TripAdvisor's Top 10 Amusement Parks in the UK, is less than 10 minutes' drive and less than 20 minutes by tram.
The hotel's "attractive split-level restaurant that overlooks the seafront" (The AA Hotel Guide 2019) serves steaks, vegetarian options and fish dishes. Guests get complimentary access to the hotel's health and leisure club with a heated indoor swimming pool, a sauna, a solarium, a Jacuzzi and a fitness suite.
Room service is available 24 hours a day. Wi-Fi is free.

The bed was very hard and not comfortable, the pillows were very lumpy. The shower over the bath would not stay in the position you put it in, there was no bath mat for safety

Staff very helpful and friendly and the meals were very good. Bed was very comfortable but the pillows were very hard - we should have asked for different ones but didn't as it was too late when we found out as we didn't check them before we went to bed!

Parking could be a problem if all spaces were taken as I believe people can just park for a day and not sure if this is monitored - we were lucky as we left the hotel for an hour and luckily our space was still there when we returned.

When I arrived at 6.30pm, the receptionist told me they had had problems, and my room wasnt ready, but I could have a complimentary drink in the bar. I explained that I had been working all day, and I didnt think it was very good that my room wasnt ready. He said, "I've told you we've had a problem, and you are getting a complimentary drink", he just shrugged his shoulders when I said I wasnt happy with the situation. I was also charged in advance for 2 days parking and I explained that the car park was full and I couldnt get on the car park, he said, "well we are very busy". Not the attitude I would expect from a quality hotel

Staff were lovely.... it was our wedding anniversary which I'd mentioned in advance and a card and fudge were in our room on arrival. What a nice touch!

It's an old building which has some really classy aspects... yet there's also a whiff of shabbiness about it. Quite pricey compared to stays we've had in other seaside resorts but a lovely location and just about worth paying the extra £60 for a sea view in a standard room.

The room we were shown was on the top floor, with a low ceiling and a view of the sea. BUT, the window was only one foot square. My husband is very tall so we asked for a different room and got one without any argument. It had no view at all but the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was quite good. We had our evening meal there and that was okay.

The staff are friendly and helpful. It is a very old hotel and looks impressive from the outside. We think that some of the rooms need refurbishing.

I loved the Imperial Hotel, a very grand place and kept to a very high standard. We got a complimentary £10 to spend in the bar on arrival so Me & my little boy had the best time here, just walking around the place and in the pool. It was the perfect location given that we overlooked the sea, we were away from all the hustle and bustle but still within walking distance of the tower. We will be back, thank you.

We were not explained to correctly about the £10 voucher. We thought using it in the restaurant would be
acceptable toward a bottle of wine which they must get from the bar. Told on checkout it was not ,quite abruptly.and said it should have been explained on checking in which is was not.

Lovely old hotel. The room was very hot and we could not turn off the heated towel rail. Also the window looked out onto a roof. It was fine for one night but if we return we would ask for a better room. The staff and bar/restaurant were very good. We had a good time.

Lovely breakfast.

I was disappointed that we were unable to get a room upgrade but that was because the hotel was busy. Fair enough, but our basic room could have been better. Curtains were ripped which gave the room a very tatty and uncared for feel.
I had fish for dinner which was far from fresh, and very unlike me I was unable to finish it.
My main gripe was the £10 bar credit. I assumed bar credit meant drink credit so thought the drinks we had with dinner would be covered with this credit. When we had a drink in the bar later we were not asked if we wanted it on the room number so paid cash. So we found out when we checked out we still had drinks to pay for. The daft thing was we watched restaurant staff collect drinks from the bar so in theory they were drinks from the bar. I think it sould be made clearer on Travelzoo that restaurant ordered drinks dont count, and reception staff should make the distinction when booking in.

We are two couples that have just returned from this hotel. The deal was £99 D/B/B with a £10 Bar credit per room. in the restaurant we ordered 1 bottle of wine and 2 beers we were told that the cost would be adjusted on our bill,
When paying the bill in the morning we were asked to pay the full amount as
any drinks ordered in the resturant were not included in the £10 cedit deal. We felt very annoyed and embarrassed as it took the reception staff 20 minutes to explain this to us. As you can see by your records we do use Travelzoo alot and have never had caused to complain before.
