Why We Love This Hotel

  • A hallmark of the Toronto skyline -- this historic downtown building sits amid skyscrapers and tourist attractions
  • Steps away from concert and sporting venues, as well as the CN Tower and Ripley's Aquarium
  • Easy access to both of the city's airports, and directly connected to the subway system
  • Unique commitment to the environment, with honeybee colonies on the roof -- offering ultra-local honey in the on-site restaurants

Overview

In the days of rail travel, the Royal York Hotel was one of the first sights visitors to Toronto would see coming out of Union Station. With virtually the best downtown location possible for both business and fun, this hotel is steps from many iconic attractions and office towers in the financial district: a 10-minute walk will bring guests to the CN Tower, Ripley's Aquarium, the Air Canada Centre, the Rogers Centre and the Sony Centre.

The hotel has an impressive multistory lobby with gilded trimmings. Past guests praise the consistently attentive staff, from the front desk to the valet to the concierge. Relax like an aristocrat of days past with a cocktail in the lobby-level Library Bar. Or, for a combination of dining and entertainment, visit Toronto's only Benihana location on-site.

All rooms are styled to echo the hotel's elegant public spaces. Although many familiar attractions are within walking distance, the lobby is connected by an indoor path to the city's subway system.

Check in was busy, but they had lots of staff so the line moved quickly. We appreciate that they moved us to a king bed room. The room (especially the bathroom) was quite small but we did not find this to be an issue. We would stay again.

We enjoyed spending time in Clockwork, the Lobby Bar after returning from a concert. The prices were very high however. We did have the $25 credit toward our bill which was actually part of the booking price. It is a smart way for the hotel to encourage spending in the bars/restaurant but unfortunate that it could not be opted out of. We did have a good laugh about the prices of single shots with another hotel guest we met, only because they were on her bill.
Other Comments
The hotel was as lovely as i always imagined it to be. I enjoyed the pool and hot tub in the morning and we only wished we had more time to enjoy the hotel. The bed was a little uncomfortable but the bedding was cozy, room was very clean and it was nice appointed.

great service. However, room was beside elevators. Offered to give us free Breakfast for inconvenience but we did not have time to use the offer as we needed to catch train. Very nice renovations in lobby.

We were attending a concert at the Scotia bank center so the hotel is in a perfect location. Hotel is very nice and worth the price we paid but all of the extras are very costly and can add up quickly
