"We liked the price tag -- $99 for a last-minute Memorial Day weekend stay. Also, the lobby is inviting, the gym has enough to offer, and Kilawat restaurant offered a great breakfast."

The Hilton Milwaukee City Center is a 4-star, 4-Diamond downtown option for guests looking for a bit of old-school character during their stay. Business guests will love that the hotel is connected via heated walkway to the Wisconsin Convention Center, and all visitors can appreciate the art-deco styling of this landmark hotel -- built in 1927, it's still one of the biggest in the city.

Rooms are spacious and comfortable with Hilton's Serenity Bedding, flat-panel TVs, a soothing light blue and mocha color palette, coffeemakers and Wi-Fi. Junior Suites include separate seating areas and upgraded furnishings, and all guests have access to the on-site fitness center.

For on-site dining options, happy hour at the Monarch Lounge has a nice vibe and is reasonably priced. Additional dining options include casual grub at the Miller Time Pub & Grill, and fancier (meatier) fare at the Milwaukee ChopHouse -- Thrillist calls it one of the best steakhouses in Milwaukee.

Guests are within walking distance of downtown attractions like the bars and restaurants of Old World Third Street and Water Street as well as the Miller High Life Theatre, the Bradley Center and the Shops of Grand Avenue.

The pool needed to be heated upwards 5 degrees. The hot tub was perfect, but the pool was just too cold to be comfortable.

Rooms are a bit tired/outdated -- not as updated as the lobby -- and could use an update.

We were disappointed we didn't get honors points for this stay. The desk clerk said we couldn't have them because we booked through a second party. We've never found this to be true at other Hiltons.

Yes it is a fabulous place, a beautiful Christmas tree in the lobby, the woodwork of an old hotel always impresses me. Great bar area with the red piano and views of outside, you can sit out there weather permitting.
