Wood Hall Hotel & Spa is a "delightful" Georgian manor (The AA) located in Wetherby, West Yorkshire -- halfway between Leeds and York. It is surrounded by 100 acres of picturesque parkland, just outside the market town of Wetherby.
Harewood House, a "spectacular" (Fodor's) 18th-century manor house with Robert Adam interiors, Chippendale furniture and a garden designed by Capability Brown, is a 15-minute drive. The hotel is within 40 minutes' drive of Leeds, York, the Yorkshire Sculpture Park and The Hepworth Wakefield -- a modern-art gallery showcasing the work of sculptor Barbara Hepworth. The ruins of Fountains Abbey are also around 40 minutes away by car, and the hotel is a 30-minute drive from the gardens at RHS Harlow Carr.
The Georgian Restaurant holds two AA Rosettes for "well-conceived" (The AA Restaurant Guide 2016) dishes. Yorkshire produce is the main attraction, and there are also views of the River Wharfe and the valley. Traditional afternoon tea and elevenses are available in The Drawing Room. The hotel has a health club, with an indoor swimming pool, a steam room, a Jacuzzi, a gym and two treatment rooms.
Most Classic Rooms are in the modern wing and courtyard area, and have views of the woodland or grounds. All rooms have free Wi-Fi, cashmere mattresses and DVD and CD players -- guests can borrow movies and music from the hotel's collection.
