The Three Sisters Hotel in Tallinn was once three separate merchant's houses that were built in 1362 and have now been unified to create this luxurious Relais & Châteaux property. The list of famous guests is long and varied; it includes politicians, supermodels, royalty (including Queen Elizabeth II) and a whole host of recording artists such as Sting, Metallica and The Red Hot Chili Peppers.

The hotel is on cobbled Pikk Street on the fringes of the Old Town, making it an ideal choice for those wishing to explore Tallinn's historic centre on foot. Within walking distance are sights and attractions including the picturesque Town Hall Square, the onion-domed Alexander Nevsky Orthodox Cathedral and the Tallinn City Museum.

The hotel's elegant Bordoo Restaurant serves international cuisine and has a courtyard terrace for al fresco dining in the summer months (May to September). There's live piano music every Friday and Saturday night. There's also a lobby bar that overlooks the hotel reception and out onto Pikk Street. The Angels Room, which features a carefully-restored 18th-century ceiling fresco, is available for private dining and special occasions.

The 23 rooms and suites have crisp sheets and are tastefully decorated -- think natural wood, exposed beams and quality furniture. Suites have Nespresso coffee machines, and some have separate living rooms and balconies. The Piano Suite is the hotel's largest and it has hosted visiting European royals and dignitaries.

From the press:
  • "Every one of the 23 guest rooms is unique, and all are equipped with oversized tubs -- some claw-foot, others sleek modern soakers" -- Condé Nast Traveler
