Why We Love This Hotel

- Slick rooms have stunning views of the city or mountains
- Housed within a refurbished cinema dating back to the 1940s
The deluxe UR Palacio Avenida hotel is housed in one of Palma’s most legendary vintage cinemas, the 1940s Cinema Avenida. Designed by Bruno Borrione, a former member of the renowned Philippe Starck team, the hotel has striking features, including huge black-and-white wall murals, all-white bathrooms and Art Deco furniture.
Overlooking the city of Palma, Bellver Castle and the Sierra de Tramuntana mountain range, the hotel is a few minutes from the city's main shopping area. The sandstone Gothic cathedral and Parc de la Mar -- which has a lake and an art gallery in the vaults of the Old City walls -- are within 25 minutesʹ walk of the hotel. Wander two minutes around the corner and you’ll find the maze of lanes that make up the Old Town, with its tiny tapas bars and shops.
Palma is on Mallorca’s west coast and some of the best beaches in the area, including Ciudad Jardin, Can Pastilla or Playa de Palma, are 15 minutes away by car. Alternatively, hire a bike and cycle around the bay -- if you head east, you’ll reach the café-lined Portixol marina, and west will take you to the fish market at the main harbour, with its glamourous yachts.
Contemporary rooms have free Wi-Fi, mini bars and satellite TV, as well as a pillow menu. Superior Doubles are larger than Standard rooms, while huge Suites have a separate living area. For real luxury, plump for the Penthouse Suite -- it’s spread across the entire ninth floor and has panoramic views of the city.
