Mercure Cardiff Holland House Hotel & Spa
Why We Love This Hotel
- A 15-minute walk from Cardiff’s major attractions
- Some bedrooms have panoramic views over the city
- The hotel has a swanky spa with an indoor pool
Less than a mile from many of the Welsh capital’s attractions (Cardiff Castle, the Museum of Wales, the botanical gardens of Bute Park), the Mercure Cardiff Holland House is a 4-star hotel in the heart of the city. The glass-fronted building is 15 storeys high and offers impressive views over Cardiff, particularly from some of the Superior Rooms on the higher floors, which have large panoramic windows.
If you’re done with Cardiff’s history and botany (unlikely, but you never know), head for the Morgan Quarter, 15 minutes’ walk away, where you’ll find independent boutiques, quirky cafés and delis and Spillers Records, one of the world’s oldest record shops. Cardiff Bay is a 10-minute drive from the hotel -- hop on a boat from Bute Park for the best views of the Millennium Centre.
Cardiff has plenty of places to eat, but Holland House holds its own. As well as a lounge bar, there’s a first-floor restaurant that specialises in steak and seafood. Overindulged? There’s a luxurious spa with a gym, 16-metre heated indoor swimming pool, sauna, Jacuzzi and thermal suite.
Each of the contemporary bedrooms overlooks the city and comes with free WiFi and satellite TV. Superior Rooms are quieter and have panoramic views, while Privilège Rooms offer a mini-bar with complimentary soft drinks, bathrobes and slippers, and a daily newspaper. Deluxe Suites have separate living areas and the Presidential Suite has two bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. Dogs are welcome in the bedrooms from £10 per night.
