Overview
Located on a tree-lined street, The Balmoral Hotel in the spa town of Harrogate is a Victorian York-stone property set among pretty gardens and topiary. The original owner was reputedly a chef to the Queen Mother, which gave the hotel its name.
The property is less than a mile from Montpelier Hill -- known for its independent cafés and restaurants, and also a number of antique shops and Sotheby's auction houses -- the Victoria Shopping Centre and Bettys tea rooms. The Yorkshire Dales National Park is a 20-minute drive.
Leather chesterfields and chandeliers sit alongside this boutique hotel's Victorian fireplaces and period features, creating "opulent interiors" (The Guardian). There's complimentary parking on site and a cocktail bar, which also has an outside terrace.
All rooms have free Wi-Fi, while the Superior Rooms and Suites feature king-size or 4-poster beds. Full English breakfast is included in the rate.
