We love the Hotel Lincoln for being one of the best options for travelers to really see the Chicago that exists outside of downtown -- it sits in one of Chicago’s most desirable neighborhoods, next to Lincoln Park and Old Town. Frommers even calls the hotel "among the most fun, lighthearted and quirky hotels in one of the best neighborhood locations."

The funky-retro rooms are on the smaller side but all come with 42-inch flat-panel TVs, free high-speed internet, coffeemakers and a variety of local artwork on the walls; some feature kitchenettes. Opt for a room facing east on the ninth floor for the best views over the park and the lake. Suites are a better option for families with sleeper sofas and more space.

Location is a huge draw for the Hotel Lincoln. Guests can be sunning themselves on North Avenue Beach or wandering the Lincoln Park Zoo in just minutes, and the Chicago History Museum and the famed Second City are both also a short stroll south. Steppenwolf Theater, DePaul University and dozens of top restaurants, bars and clubs around Lincoln Park and Old Town are also within a quick walk, and you're still about a ten-minute cab ride from the Mag Mile.

Closer to home, the hotel's J. Parker cocktail bar and restaurant is regularly named one of the city's top rooftop bars. The 13th-story views of downtown and Lincoln Park are "some of the best in the city," per Fodor's. It's also known for its mixologist-driven list of signature cocktails, and seats can be very hard to get in summer -- but even in winter, guests can comfortably enjoy the view from the rooftop's glass-enclosed terrace.

There is a limited fitness center on site, and day passes to the Equinox health club next door are also available for purchase. Borrow a bike (free of charge) to get around, or catch one of the hotel’s free pedicabs, which run to nearby landmarks.

From the press:

Good locations if you are going to the Lincoln Park Zoo. Bed and pillows were very comfortable.
Other Comments
Our room with a queen bed was very small, not even room for a small comfortable chair. It was warm and stuffy in our room even though we kept lowering the temp on the thermostat and had the fan on high. We were on the 7th floor and it took a long time to get an elevator, usually 4 to 5 minutes. The door on one elevator literally took 10 seconds to close. We rode down with two employees who said it had been like that for over a week and management had not called to fix it. We choose this hotel because the TravelZoo description said the Hotel Lincoln offered free shuttle service to Wrigley Field for games and concerts. This was not the case. My fault for not double checking with the hotel before booking,. There is a CTA bus stop right across the street from the hotel and it was fine going to Wrigley. Coming back was another story! We had to walk a mile south on Clark to catch a bus because the city closes the street near Wrigley after events until the crowd disperses.
