Hogarths Stone Manor, a Tudor-style property that had a £2 million refurbishment in 2016, is surrounded by 25 acres of gardens in the Worcestershire countryside.

The current building dates from the 1920s, but was built using century-old timbers from HMS Arethusa, one of the Royal Navy's last sailing ships. All bedrooms, the lounge and the bar and restaurant had a facelift as part of the refurbishment.

The hotel is 40 minutes' drive from the Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and 30 minutes' drive from Worcester (where you can visit the medieval cathedral) and the fascinating" (The Daily Telegraph) porcelain works at the Museum of Royal Worcester. West Midland Safari Park is a 15-minute drive away, and the Severn Valley Railway, which offers heritage steam-train trips between Kidderminster and Bridgnorth, is five minutes' drive away.

The hotel's AA-Rosette-awarded restaurant serves locally sourced seasonal food. Afternoon tea is available every day from 2-6pm. There's a croquet lawn and a tennis court on site.

The elegant rooms have traditional furniture and free Wi-Fi. Many overlook the mature gardens. A walk around the perimeter of the gardens take around 30 minutes', keep an eye out for rabbits and roebucks.

Dinner and breakfast food was first class.

Some of the staff need additional training in how best to ensure customers have a trouble free experience.Breakfast service was caotic and probably simply because there was a lack of managerial presence which resulted in some staff looking busy but doing very little whilst others did more than their fair shame in order to make certain guests were looked after.
