A five-minute drive from Lake Geneva, the family-friendly Timber Ridge Lodge & Waterpark is packed with activities. The all-suite layout fits families in one or two bedrooms plus a separate sitting room and sofa bed. All suites have a balcony and a fireplace, bathrooms with a large whirlpool tub and fully equipped kitchens. If you don’t feel like cooking, there are eight dining options either on site or next door at the Grand Geneva Resort.

The hotel’s main draw is the 50,000-square-foot water park, which is open only to hotel guests, so the pools rarely get crowded. The water park has two waterslides, a toddler pool, a lazy river and lifeguards on duty at all times. Other on-site entertainment options include a full arcade, an adventure center with archery, sand volleyball and disc golf as well as horseback riding. There's also a daily kids camp; in-room child care can also be arranged.

Seasonal activities abound throughout the year at Timber Ridge; guests can take in great fall foliage views on hikes around the expansive property, or send the kids on a haunted hayride. In winter, the resort puts on their annual Christmas in the Country holiday light show; guests can also go sledding, take a sleigh ride or even go downhill skiing on the resort's Mountain Top ski hill.

Change is swimming hours from 9 to 9 rather 10 to 10. The majority of families have little kids who are up early and go to bed early.

Wonderful overall experience. We booked on a Friday through TravelZoo for a last minute weekend trip. Showed up Saturday about noon, no trouble at all during check-in . Probably the easiest check-in we’ve ever had. The life guards were very attentive to what was going on, in and around pools. We’ve been to some water parks where the staff looked bored and you could tell they were not paying attention. These guards walked around all water and were looking in the water not just on top or around. In some parks people would walk or swim in the lazy river without being told anything. At Timber Ridge the guards were telling people if they had the wrong tubes (some were only for the slides) in the river and were making sure kids weren’t swimming around people on tubes! As a parent, I appreciated how the staff followed the rules and made sure the guests did the same! It made for a better experience. The floors in the water park, as in most, were VERY slippery even if you were walking slow. Not the largest indoor water park we’ve been to, but probably the nicest and cleanest. We ate breakfast and dinner at Smokey BBQ. The food was better than most hotel restaurants. You definitely get a lot of food for the price. The “silver dollar” pancakes on the kids menu were the size of regular pancakes at most restaurants. The hotel was clean. The staff was constantly walking around clearing wet towels and cleaning tables and the floor in the water park. The suite had plenty of room for everyone. The kids (11 & 13) liked the loft room for themselves. The only complaint with the rooms were the beds. Very uncomfortable. We will definitely be returning for another visit..
