Step into the lobby of the Omni Parker House Hotel, and you are instantly immersed in history. The longest continuously operating hotel in the United States, the hotel has hosted every president between Ulysses S. Grant and Bill Clinton for dinners and conferences. It’s here that John F. Kennedy made his first public speech at the age of 6, later in life announced his candidacy for the U.S. Senate and even proposed to Jacqueline Bouvier. Literary legends have also held court within its walls, as Charles Dickens gave his first public reading of “A Christmas Carol” and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow drafted “Paul Revere’s Ride."

At the corner of Tremont and School streets, the hotel puts guests at the border of the financial district and Beacon Hill neighborhoods. Just a short stroll down Tremont Street leads to Boston Common, the oldest park in the country. The hotel conveniently sits on the Freedom Trail, a collection of sites along a path that pays homage to the story of the American Revolution.

Culinary innovation flourishes at the hotel -- Boston cream pie and Parker House rolls were invented at the on-site Parker’s Restaurant. Guest rooms are equipped with vintage decor and modern amenities like plush robes and triple sheeting. The hotel’s impressive fitness center is equipped with everything from a bench press to elliptical machines, and it's complimentary to guests.

Be aware, the “traditional room” is very very small. It was fine to sleep in but not a room to hang out in.

From arrival...valet parking swiftly attending to our car, bellman taking our luggage & welcoming us, charming lobby greeting us, gracious receptionist & lovely room awaiting (even as we arrived a bit early)...our 6 hour travel was immediately left behind us. Our room overlooking Old City Hall, was charming, comfortable, immaculate, & quiet. We dined at Parker’s after a stroll around the Commons & were seated at the table where JFK proposed to Jackie. The Concierge directed us to a perfect local restaurant for breakfast a short walk down Tremont & we continued on the Freedom Trail for an enjoyable morning of historical immersion. Lunch at the nearby Union Oyster House & dinner in the North End...also a short walk away...completed our brief, but exceptional stay.
