Overview

The Ryebeck Country House & Restaurant is a former Edwardian gentlemen's residence with sweeping views of Lake Windermere.

It is set in five acres of landscaped grounds in the heart of the Lake District, 25 minutes' walk from the village of Bowness, which has shops, restaurants, tea rooms and boat trips on the lake.

The hotel is a short drive from Ambleside, Wordsworth's Dove Cottage in Grasmere, Beatrix Potter's Hill Top house and Holehird Gardens, home of the Lakeland Horticultural Society. The surrounding Lake District countryside is ideal for hiking, cycling and other outdoor pursuits.

This deluxe country house showcases locally sourced produce in its 2-AA-Rosette restaurant, and there is a cosy lounge offering classic afternoon teas. Both the restaurant and the lounge have lake views.

Guests have complimentary access to facilities at the Macdonald Old England Hotel & Spa -- less than five minutes' drive away -- including a swimming pool, a gym and a sauna. Windermere Golf Club is less than a 5-minute drive away.

Flexibility of ordering from menu, and service was very efficient and welcoming.

Lovely hotel, a little way out of Bowness which could provide an issue for the less mobile as it is up a couple of steep inclines. Be sure to check the category of room allocated compared to booking.

The staff were so lovely and the food was amazing. We ate in the hotel both evenings. As I’m Expecting my second child it was nice to relax and enjoy the hotel. We sat in there snuggly lounge area each afternoon and had a drink. I would highly recommend.
