A former Edwardian gentlemen's residence set in five acres of landscaped grounds in the heart of the Lake District, The Ryebeck Country House & Restaurant is a VisitEngland 3-star hotel with sweeping views of Lake Windermere.

The village of Bowness, which has shops, restaurants, tea rooms and boat trips on the lake, is 25 minutes' walk away. The hotel is a short drive from Ambleside, Wordsworth's Dove Cottage in Grasmere, Beatrix Potter's Hill Top house and Holehird Gardens, home of the Lakeland Horticultural Society. The surrounding Lake District countryside is ideal for hiking, cycling and other outdoor pursuits.

This deluxe country house showcases locally sourced produce in its 2-AA-Rosette restaurant, and there is a cosy lounge offering classic afternoon teas. Both the restaurant and the lounge have lake views.

Guests have complimentary access to facilities at the Macdonald Old England Hotel & Spa -- less than five minutes' drive away -- including a swimming pool, a gym and a sauna. Windermere Golf Club is less than a 5-minute drive away.

Travelzoo tip: We have also negotiated a 2-course lunch for two with and a glass of prosecco each for £27.

Food was excellent. The room was very good, and the en-suite superb. The bed was very comfortable. The staff were excellent and very friendly. Breakfast and evening meal were really good, and the views from the restaurant are brilliant. The whole area is so peaceful - no sound of cars to disturb the tranquility.

The hotel is very comfortable, the food is lovely and ok if you are staying for 2 nights, there isn't enough menu choice for a longer break.
