Built in the 1928, the Lord Baltimore Hotel was hailed as the largest hotel ever built in the state of Maryland. Today, the building is a historic landmark. Its multimillion dollar renovation, unveiled in 2014, preserved its old world charm and art deco accents but updated the interiors with luxurious decor inspired by contemporary private clubs.

Hosting the likes of Martin Luther King Jr. in its heyday to today’s luminaries like artist Jeff Koons and singer Beyonce, the Lord Baltimore Hotel is a prominent outpost with timeless appeal. The main dining room is a modern French bistro housed in the elegant Versailles Room, and the coffeehouse, LB bakery, serves up freshly baked goods daily. Just three blocks from Harborplace, the hotel is centrally located in downtown Baltimore, making it easy to reach the city’s famous attractions including the National Aquarium, Oriole Park at Camden Yards and the M&T Bank Stadium, home of the Baltimore Ravens.

From the press:
  • "In the spring of 2014, Baltimore's grand old prince finished its $20-million facelift adding a layer of 21st-century sophistication to the grandeur and charm of this French Renaissance-style inn" -- Frommer's
  • "The hotel is quiet and comfortable, and the location is central" -- Fodor's

Small updates in the rooms would make a big difference. Sand and Repaint the bathroom doors, clean the bathroom baseboard tile to make a cleaner grout/paint line with the wall paper. Clean the air vent in the bathroom. My room 1408 did not have the fan in the bathroom or it was not functional. For the page handed out with local and WiFi info, etc. please print a fresh page; it looks like it has been copied too many times which leaves a worn/outdated impression . The Do not Disturb sign was a bit worn; it was there the first night, but gone for the second night so I could not put it out to sleep in. These are all small details, but the kind of things that take an experience for good to great.

The dining room where we ate breakfast was beautiful

We loved the history and the charm of the hotel. The woman in charge of the dining room was so focused on customer service. We really enjoyed her. A little more light in the rooms which were pretty dark, and better service/drink choices for the roof top bar would improve an already nice experience.

The staff were excellent and very accommodating despite my dislike of the hotel. Both Brittany and Devin (I believe) were very helpful in resolving my issues with our room.

I intentionally requested a hour star hotel, The Lord of Baltimore is more like a 2.5/3.0 star hotel with bad renovations. Speaking of renovations, they actually renovated everything accept the bathroom showers and tub. Management stated the entire bathrooms were renovated but trust me they do not look nor feel renovated. Our bathroom tub was clogged and dirty! Additionally, the hallways, elevators, and ice machine areas were dated and appeared unclean. The pictures online do not accurately depict the quality of the hotel. I will say the hotel staff were very nice. They offered to change our room and even allowed me to tour several other rooms in the hotel. Unfortunately, all the rooms were the same. Needless to say, we made it through the night however, if you are looking for a four star hotel... this is not your hotel.
