Hunday Manor Country House Hotel is a 4-star property on the western edge of the Lake District, three miles from Workington. The 18th-century manor is set in spacious grounds, and offers "warm hospitality and wonderful views", says The AA.

For a coastal trip, the harbour towns of Workington and Whitehaven are less than 10 minutes' drive away, while the Lake District National Park is 15 minutes' drive, and the towns of Ambleside, Grasmere and Keswick are within 50 minutes' drive. There's lots to do while staying at the hotel -- you can have a tipple at The Lakes Distillery at Bassenthwaite, 20 minutes' drive away, or walk along the St Bees Head Heritage Coast, which is approximately 25 minutes' drive from the hotel. The AA-recommended Whinlatter Forest Park, a designated red squirrel reserve, is 30 minutes' drive from the hotel.

The intimate family-run hotel has 24 individually decorated rooms. It serves set-menu and à la carte menus in the evening. The cosy lounge and bar, complete with log fires, are a perfect place to relax after a day of walking or an indulgent dinner.

An impressive 98% of Travelzoo members who reviewed their stay at this property enjoyed their experience, praising the "excellent food and service" and "beautiful views". Wi-Fi is free throughout.

The staff were just amazing - nothing was too much trouble. The food, including the breakfast, was first class and very fresh. Great fluffy white towels and warm rooms. A great, relaxing break.

Hotel overlooks Solway Firth so sea view at the front. Wind turbines and green fields near the hotel which is away from the main road. Handy for Cockermouth, Western Lakes and the New Balance Factory shop.
