Overview

Although it's only five minutes walking to Bourbon Street, the InterContinental Hotel feels distinctly more refined and less raucous than its proximity to the quarter would suggest: Marble flooring, ornate chandeliers and high leather-backed chairs greet guests as they walk into the lobby. There are also loads of reminders that you're still in the Big Easy -- for instance, jazz statuettes scattered around the commons areas and reproductions of George Rodrigue's "Blue Dog" mounted on the walls.

The upscale vibe continues in the guest rooms, too, thanks to hardwood furnishings plus marble vanities and rainfall shower heads in the bathrooms. They also come with free Wi-Fi, Keurig coffeemakers and flat-screen TVs, as well as optional turndown service. Parents with small children can even arrange for a babysitter through the concierge (for an added fee).

The hotel's flagship restaurant, Trenasse, specializes in Cajun-Creole cuisine with a wide selection of wine and oysters, on top of a host of true Louisiana classics like crawfish pie, escargot and frog legs. For more casual fare, there's the on-site English pub-style bistro, Pete's, where guests can find NOLA comfort foods like gumbo or shrimp and grits. For breakfast, we recommend the Creole Benedict with locally sourced Andouille sausage.

Great location within walking distance to so much or short cab rides away.. Concierge staff was great in their recommendations for tours, etc.

Room was very nice, clean, quiet and well decorated/appointed. Food options in lobby were limited and poor quality (cold, noisy, just average food).
Other Comments
Airport shuttle was a no-show, so we had to book our own from/to airport shuttle ourselves. Phone number provided was not a working number, so we had no recourse.

We arrived at 11 am long before check in at 4 but they immediately gave us a room. The beds very too high off the ground but the room was very comfortable.

This is the first hotel I have been in where there was no information book in the book about the hotel and services available. We looked in all the drawers but weren't able to find any book.

Overall we were very satisfied. The only negative (why only 4 stars for the room) is that the sleeping pillows were very lumpy & flat.

Hotel was just ok. Very dated and the rooftop pool was small, dirty and not very nice. My particular room had a half a window so got very little sunlight. The shower had very light pressure.

To get the fantastic rate we had to leave in four days. Great trip. 75th Anniversary of D-Day while we were there. WWII museum is first class (and I've been to the Louve and Mariner's Museum and Smithsonian and NY). N'Orleans is a real trip. Best food in the world? Best music in the world? Definitely in the running for both. Take the river cruise for the food and the music. Walk the streets for the entertainers. So much to do...
Other Comments
Well worth the five stars. Beautiful hotel just outside the French quarter. Walk to Bourbon Street, The Mississippi River, WWII museum, literally dozens of excellent restaurants.
