Why We Love It

  • From U.S. presidents to celebrities, this hotel has been home to many, including Frank Sinatra
  • For decades, this iconic hotel has played host to the Boston Marathon Awards Ceremony
  • A resident black Labrador, Carly, greets guests in the hotel lobby
  • Rooftop health club has panoramic views of the Back Bay

Designed in 1912 by the same architect as the Plaza Hotel in New York, the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel, which earned the AAA 4-Diamond Award for over 20 years, is the reigning grande dame of Boston’s Back Bay. Located one block from Newbury Street, the historic landmark blends Old World opulence with modern amenities. In the lobby, guests are greeted by Carly Copley, the hotel’s resident black Labrador.

Sparkling chandeliers illuminate gilded decor, while upstairs rooms and suites have a subdued, modern feel. Oak Long Bar + Kitchen serves Boston’s most inventive martinis on an 83-foot copper-topped bar. Sweeping views of the Back Bay can be enjoyed from the hotel’s 3,000-square-foot rooftop health club and sun deck.

The Fairmont represents old world Boston in its full glory. The rooms are small, but you can say that about any downtown hotel. They are well appointed, clean and comfortable. This particular trip was for a wedding held downstairs in the historic (of course!) Oval room. Breathtakingly beautiful. Service was amazing, which is hard to do for 200 people, and the food excellent. Kudos all around!

The weather last weekend was dreadful.. a nor’easter. But inside the Fairmont Copley Plaza, everything was warmth and graciousness. Really appreciated that!

The courteous service beginning at the front entrance with the valet service and Kelly, the Doorman, continuing to the front desk with the Concierge and the bellman and culminating with the phone service. Everyone was outstanding! Thank you!

Outstanding service, beautiful accommodations and spotless health club....all the amenities and then some. Drinks are a bit pricey in the lounge area...$16 plus tax and tip for a Johnnie Walker scotch...Too high; maybe $12. After all, it's a blend that costs $30 for an entire 1/5. Otherwise, Great place to stay!

Was informed when checking in that the hotel had upgraded my room. I wasn't told that there was an additional charge for the upgrade and found out when I received my bill. I wouldn't have taken the upgrade for the additional money! Room was the same I had reserved and seemed to be set up for a handicapped person. Thought it was rather sneaky by the hotel as a way to up my bill.

The first room they gave us was tiny and we could hear our neighbors through the wall. once we complained they moved us to a larger room without neighbors on either side. a vast improvement!
