About the itinerary:

London – Paris – Burgundy – Swiss Alps – Pisa – Tuscany – Florence – Rome – Venice – Innsbruck – Munich – Rhine Valley – Amsterdam – Bruges – London

After you’ve landed in London and settled into your hotel, your journey gets underway on day two with an exciting tour of the English capital’s most well-known landmarks, including Greenwich and a cruise along the River Thames, where you’ll spot the iconic Tower Bridge and Big Ben. The afternoon can be spent exploring at your own leisure or there is an optional walking tour of Westminster (at your own expense). The following day, you’ll cross the English Channel after breakfast and arrive in Paris, otherwise known as the “City of Light”. Here, you’ll enjoy a driving tour of the city and get up close to its famous attractions, including the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame and the Arc de Triomphe. The next day is entirely yours to spend as you wish – you could board a river cruise and float down the Seine, admiring the Louvre and Grand Palais, visit the sophisticated cafes, or set up a picnic beneath the twinkling lights of the Eiffel Tower.

On day five you’ll travel south to Burgundy, one of France's major wine-producing regions. You’ll have lunch in Beaune, a walled town at the centre of Burgundy, then get ready to take the scenic route as you drive east from France into Switzerland. The Swiss Alps, complete with dramatic mountainscapes and beautiful lakes, will be home for the next two days. You’ll have an entire free day for sightseeing – make sure you sample the famous Swiss chocolate. Optional excursions are also available at your own cost. After breakfast on day seven, your coach departs for Italy, where you’ll get the opportunity to visit one of the most popular cultural European landmarks: the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

Next up on the itinerary is the world-famous Tuscan region, renowned for its undulating hills, Renaissance art and architecture, and delicious wine and cuisine. Your first stop is Florence – enjoy an informative tour of the Renaissance city with your team leader, followed by some free time to snap a few photos of your favourite sights. Of course, a visit to Italy wouldn’t be complete without walking the streets of Rome, the incredible 2,300-year-old capital city. You’ll have a full free day to uncover the wonders of the city yourself, or you can arrange for optional excursions to some of its must-see landmarks, including the Colosseum, the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain, the Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter's Basilica within the Vatican City (at your own expense).

The following day brings an exciting visit to Venice, a destination built on more than 100 small islands in a lagoon in the Adriatic Sea. You’ll go on an orientation walk with your tour leader, then have free rein to explore in the evening – we recommend doing so via the famous Venetian canals: hop in a gondola and witness the wonderful palaces, villas and bridges that make up this magical city. On day 11, the Austrian leg of the journey begins as you travel to Innsbruck, situated in a photogenic alpine valley. Your drive continues into Munich, Germany, where an orientation tour will introduce you to the city-centre squares of Karlsplatz and Marienplatz, home to plenty of beautiful historic architecture.

On Day 12 you’ll visit the Rhine Valley for lunch (included in the price), and enjoy a peaceful cruise along the Rhine River. The following morning you’ll depart for Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands. The tour includes a pretty canal cruise, then you’re free to explore on your own for the rest of the day. Culture buffs will love the acclaimed Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum. Next up is the medieval city of Bruges in Belgium – explore its cobbled streets at your own leisure before you make the journey back to London. The final day will be spent soaking up London’s cosmopolitan culture to mark the end of your memorable European trip. Flights back to Australia are included in the package price.
