"The history of the gardens and rice farm with the animals, etc. The grounds were beautiful and people were informative & helpful. Food was good at the restaurant, but make reservations ahead. The pool looked nice and overlooked the marsh. Lots of beautiful trees and walking trails. Great place to take your dog."

One thing that turned out to be a problem for us was the distance to Charleston and the things we wanted to visit. It was a long two lane road that reminded one of the story "Spooky Hollow", that required careful driving for some miles to get to civilization and then additional miles to get to Charleston. If you like that kind of thing, this is your place to be. If you want to see Fort Sumter or the beaches near Charleston or the town of Charleston, I would not recommend this place for the travel time needed.

It was secluded, quiet, a lot of attention to detail, lots to do, great restaurants.

It was a welcome respite from the hassle and noise of everyday life. The guided carriage ride tour was so informative and not to be missed!! So much to experience will require another visit.

It was a bit challenging for seniors. Traveled with somewhat of a handicap and unmarked stairs and no railings made extra caution and reminders necessary. Perhaps a warning of these conditions would be helpful?

We loved the minimalist architecture of the Inn, and our room with floor to ceiling windows, cypress wood paneling which invited the beautiful landscape in, beautiful! The Guesthouse was a great building to meet friends for wine and unwind before dinner. The Inn offered a complimentary healthy breakfast, and we dined at the Middleton Place Restaurant for dinner, the food was elegant and delicious offering a traditional Low Country menu from fresh local seafood and meat. The She-Crab soup and sea scallops were delicious! The admission to the Middleton Planation and Gardens was included, one of America’s oldest landscaped gardens created by Henry Middleton in 1741 overlooking the Ashley River. Guided tours of the House Mansion introduce you to the men, women and children who made Middleton Place their home for three centuries, the history is so interesting - a step back in time. The docent of our tour was meticulous in Delivering the history of the Middleton family life-changing family stories, paintings and artifacts and journals, as well as architecture details. This offers all who want to escape to a beautiful mindfully designed Inn to explore stunning surroundings of 65 acres of landscaped gardens, and Beautiful-Never-To-Be-Forgotten Memories. One of the best decisions ever!

My wife and I went to the Inn at Middleton Place as a weekend retreat. The location is ideal. It's nestled in the woods along the Ashley River in Charleston, SC. The room was very nice with a beautiful view. There were nice walking paths to get where you needed or wanted to go. We liked the peace and quiet, but also greatly enjoyed the tours of Middleton Place. In our opinion, they did a nice job of telling the story of the Middleton family without glossing over the contributions of the many slaves who kept the place running.
