- The restaurant boasts four menus of South African specialities
Explore the German countryside with an African lodge-style hotel as your base. Farmerhaus-Lodge is a small boutique hotel with eight individually designed rooms, and offers a peaceful, quirky escape.
Farmerhaus-Lodge is in the town of Gross-Umstadt, 50 minutes' drive south of Frankfurt in the state of Hesse, which is known for its forests and countryside. Gross-Umstadt has a fascinating history dating back to the early medieval period. Explore the town's history for yourself at the Gruberhof museum and cultural centre, which is less than five minutes' drive from the hotel, and make sure to stop at its town hall, which was built in 1596.
Four menus of traditional South African cuisine are available from the Farmerhaus-Lodge's restaurant. At breakfast, you can choose between a small continental breakfast or a large Farmerhaus-Lodge breakfast, including an egg dish of your choice, exotic fruit and zebra meat.
The lodge has six double rooms and two suites (sleeping four), each of which is individually designed and decorated. All rooms are equipped with free Wi-Fi, a Nespresso coffee machine and bottled water. All rooms have a private balcony or open into the attractive garden.
