"Oh my, the Read House is so beautiful! The renovation in 2017 was so true to the glam 1920's style. The staff was awesome...friendly, professional, accommodating. There was a water main break during our visit, and we were upgraded to a gorgeous room. Loved it all! We would definitely go back."

Recently restored to its original 1920s glory, the Gatsby-esque lobby boasts opulent chandeliers, black and white checkered marble floors, velvet armchairs and grand archways. Tastefully styled and centrally located, The Read House is near the Tennessee Riverwalk, AT&T Ballpark, University of Tennessee Chattanooga and the Tennessee Aquarium. Historic elements are found throughout the hotel, including a library area, billiards room and an old-school phone booth. Room 311 is even said to be haunted by the ghost of a past guest -- daily tours of this spooky room are available for those who are brave enough.

Chattanooga is rooted in history but also an increasingly popular destination known for its up-and-coming culinary scene, trendy bars, shops, art galleries and easy-access to outdoor activities. The New York Times calls it an "outdoorsy family destination" with "hiking, rock climbing, museums, one of the finest educational aquariums in the world, and innumerable food and entertainment venue," all of which can be reached by foot or by Chattanooga's free electric shuttle that stops right outside the hotel. Also nearby are Lookout Mountain and Ruby Falls, two popular outdoor destinations for visitors and locals alike.

Rooms are spacious and come standard with SmartTVs, complimentary Wi-Fi, and Keurig coffee makers. Guests have access to the newly renovated indoor pool and fitness center, as well as the full-service Starbucks, located just off the main lobby. The Bar & Billiards room serves signature cocktails and small plates in a speakeasy-inspired space. For more upscale fare, visit Bridgeman's Chophouse for a steak or fresh seafood.

Absolutely beautiful hotel! The Reed hotel could easily be considered a five star hotel. This was the fifth time I have stayed at this hotel over a 13 year period, the last time about 4 years ago. This was the first time staying here since they completed the renovation to the hotel. Wow, absolutely gorgeous! Everything about this hotel was perfect; the lobby, the bedrooms, and even the steakhouse.

The restoration of the hotel is fantastic! The location is convenient. Staff is top-notch from valet parking to front desk. Rooms are attractive, clean and comfortable. Did not eat at restaurant, but had a drink at the bar which has a great atmosphere and good drinks. Having Starbucks on the premises is a bonus. We had a wonderful experience at the Read House!

Beautiful updated historic hotel in a great location for walking to the Tennessee Aquarium, Chattanooga Choo choo and numerous restaurants and shops. The on-site Chophouse restaurant is very good! Service, food and ambiance was wonderful, loved it.

Beautiful place. The atmosphere and rooms were wonderful. Not a lot of food options, but it was nice to have the Starbucks there.

Excellent. But there is The Manor side (cheeper) side of the hotel). Still nice, but more like a really nice motel 6. The beautiful Read House is much more expensive, but gorgeous.

I visited both the Silver Ballroom and the famous room 311 where I had a private tour and several communications from Ms. Annalisa Netherly, the spirit who lost her life in the room back in the 1920s. The room 311 will be closed for tours in another month or so (September or October 2019), so hurry to see it soon. I understand it will be available for rent after that. Al Capone also stayed in that room before going to trail for tax evasion. LK-P

Beautiful hotel in a wonderful downtown setting. Very professional staff. Recommend The Read House. Plenty of family-friendly things to do and restaurants within 5-15 minutes walking distance. Beautiful tree-lined streets all around the hotel.

We've just wanted to go visit Chattanooga as we had never stayed a night there before. This was a real treat at the Read House. We just kept our car parked there for the entire 3-night stay and just walked out and took the free shuttle and seen the city that way! When we checked out the last day we then drove up to see Ruby Falls. Everything was beautifully decorated and clean at The Read House and we were able to take a lot of pictures there as my husband has taken up photography as a hobby since retiring and it gave him a .good backdrop to take many pictures of me in. I'm sure he'll be busy editing for days now! We love old buildings and being able to see what they did in their renovating of the Read House was great too as they did a great job on it!
