Three National Register-listed, red-brick rowhouses built in the 1800s have merged to create the intimate, European-style Conwell Inn. There are only 22 rooms, so staff members often greet guests by first name, before coddling them with free Wi-Fi, parking, afternoon tea and fresh cookies.
The inn is crouched in the campus of Temple University, giving the area a bustling student life and proximity to student galleries and performance spaces. Guests are only two blocks from the nearest SEPTA mass transit station, and from there it's only a few stops south to reach Center City, with the soaring City Hall clock tower presiding over the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Liberty Bell.
