Overview

A short stroll from the waterfront in the historic Old Port District, the Portland Harbor Hotel is also within a 10-minute walk of the Victoria Mansion and the Children’s Museum and Theatre of Maine. The hotel is less than half a mile from the ferry servicing coastal islands and sightseeing cruises while beaches and lighthouses are a short drive away.

Guest rooms have wood floors and large windows and are outfitted in nautical-themed furnishings. All rooms have one king or two double beds, down pillows, free Wi-Fi and granite bathrooms with large soaking tubs. Upgrades are available to suites with extras like separate seating areas, Jacuzzi tubs and double-sided fireplaces. City-view rooms look out over the bustling cobblestone streets, while garden-view units face the charming courtyard. Pets are welcome for an additional $25 nightly fee.

Each floor features a touchscreen Starbucks machine at which guests can help themselves to complimentary coffee, tea and seltzer water. Guests also have free access to the hotel’s bicycles, fitness center and outdoor fire pits.

For breakfast, lunch and dinner, the hotel’s BlueFin North Atlantic Seafood serves locally caught seafood and seasonal ingredients grown throughout Maine. Diners have the option of eating indoors or alfresco. To reach the city’s attractions and restaurants, the hotel provides a town car service for guests.

The location is ideal. It's a charming updated old hotel. We enjoyed the great coffee available all the time on our floor. We had a delicious breakfast before checking out on our last day.

Recent redo did not enhance the comfort of the room we stayed in. Very tight, Only one uncomfortable chair so second person had to sit on bed to view TV. Very odd configuration of space.

This is a small hotel that felt more like a large Inn, than a hotel. Easy to get in and out, easy to get to the room, easy check-in. Room was wonderfully appointed, and immaculate. The concierge who sits to the right of the wonderful fireplace and small couches is totally divine. He has lived in Portland almost his entire adult life and knows everything about the city. The first evening of our weekend stay we ate at the Blue Fin at the hotel. I don't suggest the iceburg salad. But my husband had the steak and raved about it. Pricey but you get a big steak. Very flavorful, great mushroom sauce. They had a great little bar, and we met some great people to chat with. The hotel is located near two great bakeries, all the wonderful fun bars are in walking distance, and the movie theater is two blocks away. There is a car shuttle that took us over to the wonderful Art museum, (ask consierge for the $2.00 discount flyer) and then the car picked us up and brought us to the movie theater. after, we walked around and did all the fabulous shops. Although cold, the sun was shining and the place was hopping. If you are looking to get away, I highly suggest this hotel. We got a great deal because it was off season. There are great restaurants everywhere in the area. We will certainly make this our go-to hotel.

They give you great little lobster chocolates with turn down of your bed. The staff is wonderful, and the tall handsome man from the Congo who seated us at dinner was the best. A great firepit in the garden with chairs. The maid service deserves a good tip at the end of your stay. They work hard and the room was immaculate, the beds perfectly made, and I gave them the biggest tip I ever gave. The same with the guys that work the cars for you. Make sure they get a $ thank you. It's how they make their living and they work really hard to please.
