The idyllic 4-star resort of See- und Waldresort Gröbern (Lake and Forest Resort in English) lies on beautiful Lake Gröberner, between the famous historic towns of Leipzig and Wittenberg in East Germany.
Opened in summer 2016, the resort has a main building with hotel rooms and lakeside, boathouse-style holiday chalets which are ideal for families. We like the modern interior with warm oak floors, combined with bright warm colors. You can enjoy lake views from the living and dining area.
There are several beaches and 10 kilometers of shoreline to enjoy. Guests have access to a range of leisure facilities and activities, such as rowing, sailing, fishing, archery, sauna, fitness classes, guided hikes and bike rides.
The hotel restaurant Waldelefant offers freshly prepared local food, an extensive fish menu and panoramic lake views. The in-house fisherman catches fresh fish daily for the kitchen. We recommend trying a smoked skewer with potato salad and tartar sauce.
The sauna also has panoramic lake views and there is a fitness room with cardio equipment. Children can play in the onsite playground.
Nature park Dübener Heide and its beautiful cycling routes like the Cycle Path of the river Elbe (Elberadweg) is around 40 minutes' drive away. Other places to get out and explore include seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Wörlitzer Park, Lutherstadt Wittenberg and Dessau with its Bauhaus theme are all UNESCO World Heritage sites within 40 minutes' drive from the hotel. Wi-Fi is free.
