Why We Love This Hotel

  • Next door to the U.S. Mint and Benjamin Franklin's burial place; walkable to Betsy Ross's workshop, the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall
  • There's an outdoor rooftop pool with sweeping views of the city
  • Guests can sample traditional Spanish tapas without leaving the Old City at Iron Chef Jose Garces' Amada restaurant (eight minutes walking)

Situated two blocks from Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell, the Wyndham Philadelphia Historic District is a history buff's dream destination: In the neighborhood are the National Constitution Center, the Museum of the American Revolution and the Benjamin Franklin Museum. There's also Elfreth's Alley -- Conde Nast Traveler calls it the "one of the prettiest streets" in the Old City -- plus loads of restaurants, more than 50 art galleries and high-end boutique shopping available on Market Street.

Inside, the hotel blends elements of its storied environs with a distinctly modern design sensibility: The bright white, open lobby is offset by royal blue wing-back chairs and artwork inspired from the preamble to the Declaration of Independence. Guest rooms decorated with oak furnishings and photos of Philly's most famous sites offer views of downtown. They also have modern necessities like flat-screen TVs and Wolfgang Puck coffee, plus marble countertops in the bathrooms.

Above. Corridors need better vacuuming against doorways and walls.

Just an overnight stay. Reason for the visit was to see a transplant relative who was a patient at Temple hospital. Its a great location to see the historical sights. Maybe next time.

Staying at this hotel made our stay much more pleasant. We parked our car the first day we arrived and didn't move it until the time we left. The location can't be beat for ease of seeing the historic area. Also, a plus that it's so close to I-95 to leave Philly.

Great hotel- very nice and helpful at front desk, great to have on-site parking, close to many of the historic attractions for ease of walking, close to Market Street and other bus routes to take buses. Just an all around great location.

The location was excellent.

The room we were initially taken to had not been cleaned out and the front desk, while very nice, made several errors thereafter and sent us to a room occupied by other guests.

I booked a deluxe queen room. The beds were full beds, not queen. Not sure what made this room a "deluxe"? The view from our room was "wonderful", if I looked straight ahead it was the parking garage, if I looked down it was the roof with the HVAC units, again not a "deluxe" room. I went to the vending machine for a soda when we checked in, the machine was sold out. So I went to all the other floors and they were also all sold out. I went to the front desk to ask if there was a vending machine that actually had anything in it, the man said they would be in the following day to fill them. They remained empty for our entire stay. The safe didn't work the night we checked in. In the morning we went to the front desk to let them know. We were told they would have engineering fix it. They never did. The location was wonderful though.

Tired looking rooms. Staff not extremely helpful. Charged $100.00 more on my credit card than bill says. Not happy!

Booked with a deal for free parking. Staff were so nice and accommodating. Only issue was trucks unloading outside our window during the night. 3rd floor and the noise made it difficult to sleep. Ask for a room on a higher floor away from the street.
