The landmark Torre Agbar, a dramatic bullet-shaped skyscraper with colourful nighttime illuminations, rises from behind the Gates Hotel Barcelona, which offers smart accommodation in Barcelona’s buzzing centre. Set on Avinguda Diagonal, a major tree-lined thoroughfare packed with historic architecture, the hotel occupies a contemporary building featuring a glass façade dotted with white piano key-style boxes, a short walk from Plaça de les Glòries Catalanes square and Glòries metro station. Museu del Disseny, Barcelona’s design museum and Museu Can Framis, dedicated to Catalonian art, are both within 5 minutes’ walk, whilst Sagrada Familia, Gaudi’s unfinished masterpiece, is about a 20-minute walk away. The Picasso Museum is 30 minutes’ walk from the hotel, and the iconic pedestrian street La Rambla and Palau Güell, an ornate Gaudi-designed mansion, take approximately 40 minutes to reach on foot.
Curving lines, sleek wood and a ceiling covered in colourful discs characterise Gates Hotel Barcelona’s trendy interiors. There’s a lobby lounge decorated with metallic walls and funky seating, housing a neon-lit bar, as well as a grey-toned restaurant with floor-to-ceiling windows and pebbledash accents serving local cuisine. Guests can enjoy panoramic city views from the hotel’s roof terrace, which offers a compact outdoor pool surrounded by sun loungers, along with an eatery for snacks and cocktails. Meeting space is available.
Gates Hotel Barcelona’s guestrooms are decorated in a simple modern style with floor-length windows and nature-inspired murals. All rooms include free Wi-Fi, TVs and mini bars, plus sitting space. Higher tariff rooms add views of Torre Agbar and coffeemakers, whilst executive rooms come with living areas. Family rooms and suites with separate living rooms and sweeping city views are also available.
